About Music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose basis is sound organized in time. It refers to the vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce a form of beauty, harmony, and expression of emotions. Generally definitions of music will include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), the sonic qualities of timbre, rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may include some of these, emphasize, de-emphasize or even omit some of these elements. Music can be performed with a huge range of instruments and vocal practices ranging from singing to rapping. There can be purely instrumental pieces, exclusively vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments.

In its most common form, the activities describing music as a cultural activity or art form include the study of the history of music, creation of works of music (songs, symphonies, tunes, and so on), the appreciation of music, the criticism of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Since time immemorial music has remained as an alluring thing to please our hearts. The Indian philosophers and Ancient Greek defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Certain common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" refer to the notion that music is often methodical and pleasant to listen to. In the 20th-century composer, John Cage thought that every sound can be music. Coming to the learning of the theory of music, the term Music theory is the study of the practices and the possibilities of music. The Oxford Companion to Music describes three numbers of interrelated uses of the term "music theory". The first is called 'rudiments', presently taught as the elements of notation, of time signatures, of key signatures, of rhythmic notation, and so on. The second is the study of writings about music and its related activities from ancient times onwards. The third is a field of current musicological study that seeks to define procedures and general ideologies in music - a sphere of research that can be distinguished from analysis such that it takes as its starting point not the individual effort or performance but the fundamental resources from which it is built.

But there is no use of having all of this talent if one doesn't how to utilize it for money in case of professional aspects. If someone is looking forward to turn ones passion into a sustainable career, it is required of that person to learn how to handle copyright, promote oneself, negotiate contracts and make more money. When one plans to study abroad, there is so much to gain by leaving the comforts and confines of what’s known and predictable. While the culture, geography, language, customs, food etc. may be very different from what one is accustomed to, the common denominator is still the passion to study and play music.
