The Himachal Pradesh Technical University was founded in 2010, is a state government university. It was established by an Act of Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh.

Its main objective is society’s welfare and value creation through technical education training, innovation, entrepreneurship, and research. The university contributes to finding solutions for global problems. It is responsive to the ever-changing needs and demands of the economy and society.

The programs offered by HPTU are developed and designed after an initial survey of the demand for such programs. The university offers long-term and short-term programs, leading to Degrees and Advanced Diplomas. The programs are innovative and conventional, through private and public participation. 

The program is designed in such a way that it ensures that students are equipped with the essential expertise and skills. HPTU Entrance Tests

The entrance test of Himachal Pradesh Technical University orHPTU is called HPCET – Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test. This entrance test is conducted for various courses such as MBA, MCA, B.E, B.Tech, MTech, and BPharma Ayurveda. Students that have qualified for the JEE mains exam are eligible for direct admission. The syllabus for the entrance test is available on the HPTU’s official website. 

This exam is conducted in English. Its conducted on an offline basis/pen and paper basis. The duration of the exam is 3hours, with no breaks in between. The start date for filling the online application forms is 22nd June 2020, and the last day for filing the same is 15th September 2020. The application forms are available on the HPTU’s official website. 0.5marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer, and two marks will be awarded for every correct answer. The difficulty level of the test will ranger between easy and moderate. The HPCET is conducted in various centers across several cities in India.

How to check HPTU results?

The entrance exam Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPCET) and that of its undergraduate and postgraduate course exams can be checked on its official website. Students will have to enter their roll number or name to check their results. 

How to download HPTU admit card?

The admit card is an essential document for the Himachal Pradesh Technical University or HPCET exams. It will not be sent to the student by post. The student has to download the admit card online on the HPTU’s official website.

Students are advised to keep the admit card safe and handy until the admission process is over. The student should check if their photograph is properly printed and admit the Controller of Examinations signs card. Students are advised to check the other details on the admit card as well. 

The steps to download HPTU admit card are as follows –

  1. Log onto himtu.ac.in. –  the official website for HPCET.
  2. On the website, there will be a link to download the admit card.
  3. By clicking on the link, a page asking for the student’s details will appear.
  4. The student should then provide the details such as the program applied for, application form number, student name, and date of birth.
  5. Click on the submit button, a document will then open in a pdf format.
  6. Save and download the pdf file by clicking on the download button. 

HPTU Fees Structure

The fees of Himachal Pradesh Technical University or HPTU are different for government and private colleges. The fees range between 52,000-145,000 rupees per year. This varies with the program chosen. The detailed fee structure is given on the HPTU’s official website.

The fee structure also includes hotel rent and mess charges, university registration fee, examination fee per semester, among various other things.  

HPTU Admit card

The admit card is an essential document for the HPCET exams. It will not be sent to the student by post. The student has to download the admit card online on the HPTU’s official website. Students are advised to keep the admit card safe and handy until the admission process is over.

The student should check if their photograph is properly printed and if they admit the Controller of Examinations signs card. HPTU Placements

The HPTU provides placement guidance at all times to all students. It assures 100% placements. A placement team that sets up placement drives and coordinates activities and processes between the students and companies. Many reputed firms such as Cipla, Air India, P&G, among various others, come to HPTU for campus placements.

The firms that come in for campus placements offer a good package to the students; the IT/CS branch’s average package is about Rs 6lakhs per annum. Internships are compulsory for some courses, and the placement team assists in that too.

HPTU Cut Off List

HPCET cut-off lists will state the minimum percentage of students in the HPCET exams to get admission in their desired course at HPTU. The cut-off lists for different courses will be released separately. The students must understand that attaining the required percentage in the HPCET exam does not confirm their admission, and it’s the first step of the admission process. 

The cut off can be viewed on the HPTU’s official website. The student will then have to click on the HPCET 2020 cut off-link. They will be directed to a new page and then have to log in by entering the required details. Students can then check the list and download the same. The various factors determining the cut off include the difficulty level of the HPCET exam, the number of seats available, previous years cut-offs, among other things

HPTU has the highest package placement team that assists and guides the students throughout the placement process. HPTU Admission Procedure

The students must understand that attaining the required percentage in the HPCET exam does not confirm their admission, and it’s the first step of the admission process.

Admission is made based on the availability of seats in the course and the merit of the applicant. The student is required to pay a nominal application processing fee. The student has to choose an appropriate option at the time of counseling. 

HPTU student should bring the following documents are the time of admission:

  1. Character Certificate from the Head of the previous institute/college attended.
  2. Certificate of passing the necessary qualifying exams. 
  3. National level entrance exam scorecard.
  4. If applicable, Reserved Category Certificate issued by the competent authority. 
  5. If applicable, a Physically Challenged Certificate from the competent authority.
  6. If applied under the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme, an Income Statement issued by the competent authority, among various others. 

5% seats are reserved for NRIs, their son/daughter, legally adopted child, spouse, etc. 15% seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals. Usually, two rounds of counseling are held. 

HPTU Admission Form

Admission is made based on the availability of seats in the course and the merit of the applicant. The student is required to pay a nominal application processing fee.

Once the student is registered, they can log in with their email id and password, which they will receive on their mobile number or email id. Candidates who have obtained minimum cut of marks in the National level test-2019/ qualifying Examination are required to pay a non- refundable application processing fee of Rs. 1550/- for candidates of General category and Rs. 1400/- for candidates of SC/ST/BPL categories before submission of the application online.

How to get admission in a B.Tech course at HPTU?

Ans. For getting admission in B.Tech Candidates need a minimum aggregate score of 45% marks in PCM, 10+2 exam or equivalent. Along with this, they need a valid score in JEE Mains or HPCET. However, 50% of the students are selected on the basis of the JEE Mains exam whereas 50% is selected on the basis of HPCET.
