Dublin Institute of Technology

Set up as the first technical institution in Ireland in 1887 Dublin Institute of Technology or DIT, was also a major third-level institution situated in Dublin.

Though on January 1, 2019, the Dublin Institute of Technology was disbanded, and its operations were passed on to the Technological University Dublin. 

Historically it was an institute that went through several legal and governance models, and it reached its pinnacle when DIT was granted autonomous status in 1992.

Initially, DIT was recognized for the specialty in providing a degree in Product Design, Engineering, Science, Architecture, Marketing, Hospitality, Music, Optometry, Pharmaceuticals, Construction, Digital Media, and Journalism. It has always been a highly ranked international university.

  • The New DIT campus will provide residents in the university itself. Housing formats offering residences from 6 beds and three-bedroom apartments will be available on campus.

DIT Dublin City Campus has six libraries that have a wide range of services that includes the Library Catalogue, online resources, access to computers, and technical support.

DIT, which is now known as Dublin Technological University, is ranked 751 by QS World University Rankings in 2020.
