Better education opportunities are the right of every student in India. The government of India and the various states continuously initiate new policies and schemes to promote higher education in the country. One such program is the eScholarship scheme that has been started by various state governments to encourage a better future for students through distributing scholarships online. The objective of providing eScholarships is to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach everyone easily. 

eScholarship Tamil Nadu

The Department of Social Welfare, Tamil Nadu, has initiated a ‘TN Pre and Post Matric Scholarship’ for school students and fresh graduates. The application process is conducted online, and scholarships are offered to the students of economically weaker sections and minority communities.

Candidates who have scored at least 50% marks in their previous examination and have an annual income of Rs.2 lakhs are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship enables the eligible students at any level of study to pursue a course at an institution/university of their choice. The application form can be downloaded from the official website and submitted with the details filled correctly.

eScholarship Uttarakhand

To encourage the students from various strata to pursue the career of their dreams, the Government of Uttarkhand also offers different scholarship programs. There are various eScholarships available for the students depending upon their needs. The Department of Social Welfare has initiated these scholarships in Uttarakhand.

Most of these eScholarships, however, focus on the welfare and betterment of the backward classes. The eligibility criteria also vary depending upon the type of scholarship. A candidate can apply for any of the eScholarships offered by the Uttarakhand government on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by registering themselves.

eScholarship Maharashtra

Maharashtra Government’s online portal for DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), known as MahaDBT, can be used to apply for the various eScholarship provided by the government. A candidate will have to register and login on the MahaDBT portal, where they can find a list of all the available eScholarships offered. The eligibility criteria for these scholarships are also stated on the portal, and the candidate can apply for a scholarship depending on their needs.

All these eScholarships are provided to benefit the students of backward classes, and some of them are exclusive to girls too. The Maharashtra Government collects data from the SSC board about the students belonging to different backward categories and aims to provide them with better educational opportunities. The application for any of these eScholarships can be downloaded from the official website of the Maharashtra government.

eScholarship Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh State escholarship Portal lists several scholarships offered by the government to the students from various sections of society. Every year, the government invites online applications for Post-Matric Scholarships for SC/ST/OBC.

The Department of Tribal and Scheduled Caste, Chhattisgarh, works with various institutions to provide these scholarships to the students. Students of class XI and XII, who are a permanent resident of the state, have scored a minimum 50% in the last examination and whose annual family income is no more than INR 1 lakh (OBC) and 2.5 lakhs (SC/ST); are eligible for these e-scholarships. The benefit amount varies with the type of scholarship. The applications are available on the Chhattisgarh State Scholarship Portal.

Documents Required For eScholarship

Following is a list of documents required (common to all scholarships) to be submitted along with the scholarship application-

  1. Copy of Aadhaar Card linked to the Bank account
  2. Consolidated mark-sheet
  3. Domicile Certificate (of the particular state)
  4. Income Certificate
  5. Caste Certificate
  6. Copy of the Bank passbook
  7. A passport size photograph
