Which Flagship Certifications Does IIBF Offer?

Alongside them the Institute runs the Diploma in Banking and Finance, diplomas in international banking, treasury and urban co-operative banking, plus certificate courses for business correspondents, microfinance and small finance banks.
JAIIB is the entry-level qualification and CAIIB builds on it with advanced decision-making subjects such as treasury management, risk management, balance sheet management, credit management and business laws. The Diploma in Banking and Finance shares the same four subjects and the same exam dates as JAIIB, which is why the two appear side by side on the Institute's schedule.

The Institute may at its discretion allow a candidate from the clerical or supervisory cadre to appear even without the 12th standard pass, on the recommendation of the manager or officer-in-charge of the office where the candidate works. Ordinary membership itself is open to employees of recognised banking establishments in the nationalised and private sectors, including the Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India, other central and state financial institutions and co-operative banks, provided the employer is registered with the Institute as an institutional member.

Each paper carries roughly 100 objective multiple-choice questions for 100 marks over two hours, is held online only, and has no negative marking.

Candidates then choose one elective from Rural Banking, Human Resources Management, Information Technology and Digital Banking, Risk Management or Central Banking, and may change that elective in any attempt.
The Institute grants no exemption in any CAIIB subject for prior qualifications. The five electives are also offered as separate certificate examinations on the same dates.

The minimum pass mark is 50 out of 100 in each subject. Alternatively, scoring at least 45 in every subject with a 50 percent aggregate across all subjects in a single attempt also completes the examination. Candidates get five attempts within a maximum of three years, whichever comes first.
- Credits for subjects already passed are retained until the time limit for passing expires
- The three-year window starts from the date of registration for the first attempt
- An attempt is counted when you apply, whether or not you actually sit the paper
- Failing to finish within three years or five attempts means re-enrolling afresh with no carried-over credits
- Attempts made during a debarment period for unfair means are still counted
Why Does an IIBF Qualification Matter for a Banking Career?
JAIIB and CAIIB are the standard professional benchmarks inside Indian banks, and most public sector banks link increments or promotion eligibility to them. The Institute also runs the certification that business correspondent agents need, so its examinations reach well beyond branch staff into the wider financial inclusion network.
For bankers who want an academic qualification on top, IGNOU offers an MBA in Banking and Finance. Its current eligibility is a bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration with at least 50 percent marks, or 45 percent for reserved category candidates. The programme runs for two years and costs Rs 16,000 per semester, rising to Rs 18,000 for the third semester, which carries an eight-credit project.
