Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Technology and Management ( ADGITM), earlier known as Northern India Engineering College ( NIEC ), was founded by Babu Banarasi Das in 2003, affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

The college provides quality teaching via Virtual labs, Smartboards, and audio-visual aids, such as LCD/LED.

The most regular feature of the institute is that it provides one-day seminar and class tests by different departments of the institute. The college also has a Training And Placement Cell, which is entrusted with the task of creating opportunities for students among various companies and industrial visits to the students. This TnP cell conducts Personality Development and Guest Lecture by eminent personalities from various industries to make students aware of the upcoming trends in industries.

Apart from this, the college also provides pool campus for the students from other institutions, and many in-house pieces of training are also conducted for B.tech/MBA/MCA students by many renowned like HP, IBM, Microsoft, Purple leaf, Randstad India Ltd etc.companies for technical and professional training.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech at NIEC

The candidate must have passed class 12 in the 10 +2 pattern with an aggregate of 55 % marks and he/she must have passed individually in each subject also. Also, The candidate must have studied Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at the plus 2 levels.

All the candidates must appear in CET and admissions to NIEC will be based on the CET rank or merit list which is followed by counseling.

Other than the aforesaid engineering courses NIEC also offers BBA and MBA. NIEC is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. 

The institute NIEC also allows lateral entry to certain streams of engineering for certain Diploma holders subject to performance in CET.

NIEC is divided into a number of departments. Each department has it’s own infrastructure and is self-driven. Each department at NIEC has a head who is responsible for teaching, management, development, research, industry interaction and they are supported by a team of Professors, Assistant Professors, Technical and Administrative employees. 

As each department at NIEC is focussed on one specific core concentration, all the aforesaid people achieve the highest competency in operating their respective departments.

The fees of engineering courses at NIEC are approximately  Rs 1,00,000 per annum which is much lower as compared to private engineering knowledge. It is value for money.

NIEC holds a good placement record with the maximum number of B.Tech graduates being hired with respect to other streams.

Infrastructural facilities at NIEC are:

• Computer Centre at NIEC is a state of the art lab which is fully air-conditioned and has 962 computers with modern hardware and software.
• Central Library at NIEC has a collection of about 90,000 books and more than 100 offline and online journals, national and international.
• Central Workshop at NIEC has a workshop for engineering students for hands-on learning.

B. Tech Laboratories at NIEC have top of the line machines for the engineering students. For example – Microprocessor, DSR Microwave, VHDL, LSI, Telecommunication, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, and Advanced Computer Labs.

Other than the infrastructural facilities, NIEC also provides quality teaching with the use of NPTEL, Virtual Labs, EduSAT.  Constant feedback on students is taken regarding the faculty and corrective measures are made on such feedback.

Selection Process

• Admission to all the courses at the undergraduate level is done on the basis of CET.
• The admission will be on the basis of CET rank followed by counseling round.

Exam Pattern

B.Tech :

• IPU-CET is an aptitude based test for candidates based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
• There are overall 150 objective questions with a total weightage of 33.33% of each section.

BBA :

• IPU-CET for BBA is divided into 4 sections with 150 questions.
• The questions will be based on English , General awareness , logical reasoning and management aptitude.
• The duration of the exam will be 2hr 30mins
