Started from 12 April 2023, specified nationals visiting or transiting the UK will need an ETA for short stays. Exceptions include British and Irish passport holders, UK residents, and visa holders.

The ETA application process opens on specific dates. Online applications require proof of identity and a fee. Each traveler, including children, must apply separately. ETA is valid for 2 years or until passport expiry.

ETA may be refused or canceled based on suitability grounds. In case of refusal, applicants can apply for a Standard Visitor visa, Temporary Work - Creative Worker visa, or Transit visa to enter the UK.
