GMAT 2019 Exam

The GMAT (2019) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test is a computer aptitude entrance exam that takes place numerous times throughout the year. The test is held by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) where an individual's reading, writing, and analytical skills are tested.

More than 7,000 programs accept the GMAT 2019 score across 2,000 graduate business universities globally. For those who aspire to pursue an MBA or a Masters degree in Finance, it is the most preferred test.

The level of difficulty of each question depends on the accuracy of the previous questions response. You can appear for the exam for a total of 8 times, which is limited to once in a gap of sixteen days and five times within 12 months.

GMAT 2019 Eligibility

It is essential for the candidate to be 18 years of age. If they are between the age of 13 to 17, they will require legal written permission from their parents or guardian. No specific qualification or an upper age limit has been made compulsory to appear for GMAT.

  • You can register for GMAT anytime throughout the year.
  • Both online and offline mediums can be used for registration.
  • Students must register at a point when they can have enough time for preparation.
  • A print out copy of the registration is important for further use.

GMAT Fees

Online payment mode :

  • MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and JCB are accepted.

  • You can mail and request for a schedule of payment.

Cancellation fee :

A refund of $80 is possible if the test is canceled after seven days of registration.

Rescheduling fee :

A fee of $50 is charged for rescheduling.

Computerized Adaptive Testing        

Also referred to as CAT, Computerized Adaptive Testing prepared its next set of questions based on the correctness of the candidate's answer. The test provides precise analysis of the examinee’s abilities and skills.

Executive Assessment Exam

The Executive Assessment Exam is designed to test the readiness of the candidate. It tested how committed and prepared the individual is for the program and also focusses on testing at what level is the candidate to become entirely focussed.

Difference between GMAT and GRE

  • GMAT is only applicable to business schools while GRE is accepted at all colleges.
  • The quantitative section in GMAT is comparatively difficult than GRE.
  • GRE analyses language skills are better than GMAT.
  • Unlike GRE, GMAT is compulsory for business schools.
  • In GRE, you can take breaks between questions to relieve yourself which is not possible in GMAT.

Scheduling GMAT Exam

  • Plan for a substantial period before scheduling the test.
  • Check through dates of scheduling.
  • Take an ample amount of time for preparation.
  • Schedule the test according to the latest dates available.
  • Confirm your payment and recheck your schedule.

Rescheduling GMAT Exam

  • If the date is rescheduled within seven days of the test, an additional $250 will be charged.
  • The test cannot be rescheduled within 24 hours before taking the exam.
  • If the test is missed, no refund will be provided, and the test can be rescheduled after 16 days.
  • Rescheduling can be done online or through calling.
  • You can reschedule as many times as required.

GMAT 2019 Exam Pattern

  • The test is taking place in 3 hours and 7 minutes. It consists of 4 sections – Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning.
  • The analytical section requires you to analyze through argument.
  • The integrated reasoning is divided into four more sections –table analysis, graphics interpretation, multi-source reasoning, and two-part analysis.
  • The quantitative section includes data sufficiency and problem – solving.
  • The verbal section comprises reading comprehension, critical reasoning as well as sentence correction.

GMAT Syllabus 2019

GMAT syllabus comprises four sections – Analytical assessment, Integrated, Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning.

Analytical Assessment :

  • It tests your writing skills.
  • Your ability to put up arguments with clarity and logic.
  • The essay will be analyzed overall.
  • Analyze your argument with a methodical approach.

Integrated Reasoning :

  • The table analysis will have statements that need to be categorized as true or false.
  • The graph representation needs to interpreted by choosing from the given options.
  • Multi-source reasoning involves choosing options from table and graph.
  • In the two-part analysis, an individual answer has to be chosen from the given component from 2 columns.

Quantitative Reasoning :

  • It includes basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry questions.
  • There are multiple-choice questions to answer from.
  • The problem-solving section has a greater number of problems that test your mathematical abilities.
  • The data sufficiency requires to analyze data accurately. Therefore it is important to learn the entire order.

Verbal Reasoning :

  • The underlying meaning of the passage needs to be understood incomprehension.
  • The critical reasoning section requires logical and correct analysis.
  • While reading, the keywords need to be grasped for a better understanding.
  • Sentences must be grammatically corrected by choosing the option from the multiple-choice answer.

GMAT Score 2019

The GMAT score is a combination of verbal and quantitative scores ranging from 0 to 60. The total score starts ranging from 200 till 800.

Analytical Writing Assessment

  • The essay is scored twice, by the computer and human reader.
  • The score range is 0.0 to 6.0.
  • The scores are averaged at intervals of 0.5.
  • If the two scores differ by 1 point, a third examiner finalized the score.
  • More than 50 linguistic features are analyzed while being scored.

Integrated Reasoning :

  • The score range is 1 to 8.
  • Each score interval is a single digit.
  • More than one response is required for each question.
  • There is no partial scoring.
  • All responses must be attempted for the full score.

Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning :

  • The score range is between 6 to 51.
  • Marking depends on the number of questions attempted.
  • The difficulty of each question makes a difference in the score; therefore a higher number of correct answers increase the scores.
  • An error of measurement will cost 3 points.
  • Each score is marked at an interval of 1 point.

How to access the GMAT Score?

  • You will receive 4 out of 5 of your scores immediately after the test.
  • Unofficial score print out can be taken at the test center.
  • The score can be accessed online anytime.
  • The scores come with an online guide.
  • Scores on paper are usually sent through postal mail.

The validity of GMAT Score

  • The score of GMAT is valid for five years since the test date.
  • The official score will be available within 20 days of the exam.
  • The official score report presents all the GMAT exams taken by you.
  • The scores sent to schools are those accepted by the candidate.
  • Scores older than five years are available with an additional fee but will not be valid.

GMAT Exam Dates

Dates for GMAT exam is available all year round. Candidates can choose their dates according to their convenience, but you must book your appointment at a gap of 16 days if you wish to retake the exam. You can take the test 5 times a year which means only 5 test dates will be made available depending on your availability and convenience. There are no fixed dates in any month or week. Therefore exams take place almost daily.

There have been no changes in the exam dates or centers. The pattern of the exam remains the same with time duration, marking scheme and score ranges. The profile made on the GMAT website registers your details permanently, and no further changes can be made. Making sure that the details are entered carefully is important.
