Overview

Forests provide a plethora of invaluable economic, social and environmental benefits and act as Carbon-sinks in the modern world of pollution. With the growing importance and necessity of environmental protection all over the world, the academia sector is now emphasizing on education in the field of natural resources. As a result, courses in Forestry have emerged to be a well-sought after since the recent past. 

Forestry is defined as the art, science, and practice of studying, managing, conserving and repairing forests and plantations, and related natural resources. It is a field that includes a broad area of focus such as timber-produce, landscape and community protection, wildlife habitat, fuel-wood, biodiversity management, prevention and protection of forests from negative phenomena like erosion, forest-fires, etc. It also includes Arboriculture, which is the study of individual trees, their management and cultivation. UG/PG degrees 

There are two degrees offered in the department of forestry which is an undergraduate course like either Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and a master's degree in the field as MA or M.Sc.

 

Exams required

Normally to study forestry abroad, the student is needed to produce their IELTS score or TOEFL score. These are language test and are very important if one wishes to study abroad as it checks the language proficiency of the student.

Forestry science courses train students in the general knowledge, management principles and environmental concerns related to forest communities. Topics include ecology, forest management, biology and geographic information systems (GIS) technology. Requirements & Eligibility Level wise

Academic Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry

  • Interested students must have completed class 12th with either the CBSE (All-India SSC) or CISCE (ISC) board
  • For CBSE board: CGPA of 9.6 with grade A1 in any subjects relevant to the course applied for
