York is a prominent English town, popular for its numerous tourist attractions. York’s economy was primarily dependent on manufacturing, especially chocolate factories. Though some of the factories function even now, the focus of the economy has shifted to the service industry in branches like IT, health, public sector, finance, education and tourism. Even though the railway industry has declined, the network of railways in the town is still a source of both revenue and employment.
The educational scene in York is flourishing. The University of York is among the major institutions in the city, consisting of around 30 departments offering education across all avenues. Archaeology, education, literature, economics, history, electronics, chemistry, mathematics, music, theatre, politics, psychology and sociology are some of the subjects taught at the University of York. It is ranked among the best young (under 50 years) universities in the world. York St. John University offers foundation, under-graduation, graduation and post-graduation programs in literature, linguistics, psychology, business management, tourism, and the like. In addition to these institutes, colleges like York College and Askham Bryan College also mete out educational services.
York’s economy and educational prosperity are both efficiently developed and hold a lot of scope for the future. The combination of both these factors makes York a top-rate student destination.
