About the James Cook University

James Cook University offered its first courses in Townsville in 1961. JCU is Queensland’s second-oldest university. It is a leader in research addressing the crucial challenges to the tropics, worldwide. It is an ever-changing, multi-campus university with a total of 17,500 students. The central campuses are situated in Townsville and Cairns. It has been recently restructured into seven colleges, placed within two divisions.

James Cook University Campus

The campus of the university is divided into three main campuses which are further divided into many buildings which are further divided into departments.  Two of these campuses Townsville and Cairns are located in Australia only, and there is another international campus in Singapore. There are other campuses as well in Mackay, Mount Isa, Thursday Island, Brisbane, and Queensland. The university has a suburban and rural campus which is spread across an area of approximately 954 acres of land.

The university owns a reputed ranking in majority of popular university ranking systems. It is placed at 340th position out of the ranked institutions in the QS World Rankings and 18th in QS National Raking. It is ranked 251-300 among other international institutions by WUR. Was also ranked 201-300 by ARWU and 9-14 nationally by ARWU.

Admission Process

How to apply to James Cook University?

The students need to qualify some exams to take admission in James Cook University programs like GRE, TOEFL or IELTS if they aren’t native English speakers. Students must have completed 12th or International / American equivalent of Class 12th for undergraduate courses.
