About Boston University

Boston University came into existence with the formation of  Newbury Biblical Institute in Newbury, Vermont, in the year 1839. It obtained a charter from the state legislature of Massachusetts by the name of Boston University in 1869 by three successful businessmen- Isaac Rich, Lee Claflin, and Jacob Sleeper who inclined educational enterprises. Despite being non-sectarian, the university previously had an affiliation with the United Methodist Church. This university has been ranked as R1 : Doctoral University (very high research activity) in Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education. They are also a member of Association of American Universities. They have around 23 pulitzer prize and 8 nobel laureates as their alumni.
