About Memorial University of Newfoundland

Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), is a multidisciplinary university committed to excellence, creativity in education, research, public engagement, and academic innovation. The Memorial University was called the Memorial University College (MUC) initially. It was established in 1925 as a memorial to the Newfoundlanders who sacrificed their lives during World War I. Currently, Memorial University has a community of scholars and students worldwide, including 18,000 plus students from over 100 countries and more than 95,000 alumni worldwide. Memorial University is regarded as one of Atlantic Canada's largest and most prestigious universities.

Memorial University has four main and two satellite campuses. Its main campus is in St. John's and presents several academic programs in an urban setting. The University's Grenfell campus specializes in Liberal Arts, fine arts, Business Administration, and environmental programs. Its Marine Institute is considered one of the world's largest institutes for education, training, applied research, and technology transfer for the ocean industries. Harlow Campus is the international Campus of the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Memorial University of Newfoundland On-Campus Accommodation

Memorial University has two options for on-campus housing:

  1. Dormitory-Style Accommodations - in the Paton College Dormitories, students can select to have a shared room (1 roommate) or a single room (more costly). Each dormitory has space for approximately 100 students. Students may share many of the facilities in the dormitory, but they must purchase a meal plan.
  2. Apartment-Style Accommodations - in Burton's Pond Apartments, students will share an apartment with up to 3 other students. They will have an individual room and share the kitchen, living room, and bathroom facilities. They can either cook their own meals or elect to purchase a meal plan.

Memorial University of Newfoundland Off-Campus Accommodation

Several third-party sites, marketplace listings, and advertising spaces list houses, apartments, and rooms for rent. Students can expect to pay approximately $500 to $700 per month for shared accommodations, plus approximately $50 per person per month for utilities and $150 to $200 per month for food. Bus transportation will cost $70 per month for students.
