North Tec

Founded in 1978 in Raumanga, Whangarei in New Zealand, North Tec is a public tertiary education provider in the Northland region of New Zealand. Although its main campus is situated in Raumanga, NorthTec has campuses all over Northland. It has campuses and learning centers in Dargaville, Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Rodney District. Below are some quick facts about NorthTec.

• NorthTec offers degree, certificate, diploma, and short-term courses for students as well as working individuals. About 40 percent of students study in the main campus of Raumanga and the rest study in the multiple regional campuses of NorthTec.
• Each campus and learning center has different facilities and courses catering to various courses. The Whangarei campus has the main administration building as well as the Library, Health Centre and the Student Centre with the Apprentice restaurant that is used to trains hospitality students and is open to the public.
• The Dargaville campus has facilities that cater to courses including Agriculture, Construction, Forestry, Horticulture, and Hospitality while the Kaikohe campus caters to Automotive engineering and business in addition to the courses offered at Dargaville.
• Forty-six percent of the student body in 2011 is indigenous Maori, and there is a lot of influence of Maori culture in the festivities and representation of NorthTec. The institute is truly international as there are students flying over from China, Japan, India, and the USA to experience studying at NorthTec.
•  The university staff is heavily active in research programs, and NorthTec is one of the few universities in New Zealand that are focused on research and development. The university holds a category two education provider certified by the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA)
