About Sheridan College

Sheridan College, founded in 1967, is a premier post-secondary university in Ontario that offers certificate, undergraduate, and graduate degrees in Business, Applied Health, Social Sciences, Arts, and Applied Sciences. There are 23,900 full-time students, 3800 part-time students, and 16,950 students enrolled in the college's professional and continuing education programmes. Over 120 programmes, including 25-degree programmes, are offered across five faculties. More than 8,700 international students from 110 different countries enrol at the college every year.

The Sheridan School has three campuses in Canada. Mississauga, Brampton, and Oakville are the locations of the campuses.

  • Mississauga's Hazel McCallion Campus has a student population of 5,594 students and offers 33 programmes. The Pilon School of Business is located on this campus.
  • Davis Campus, in Brampton, is home to 10,697 students and provides 69 programmes. It is Sheridan's largest campus.
  • Trafalgar Campus in Oakville has a student population of 8,225 students and offers 45 majors.

Sheridan College Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate of Sheridan College is 65% for international students, as it tries to admit 65 students out of 100 applications; however certain times, the courses may become oversubscribed. Some of the programmes are extremely difficult to get into. To be considered for admission to one of these programmes, you may require a higher grade point average (GPA).

Sheridan College is committed to providing high-quality education to all students and offers a variety of financial help and scholarships to international students who wish to study in Canada. Applicants for the following scholarships and awards must submit an online application through the official website. Scholarship deadlines vary depending on the periods in which one is enrolled. As a result, applicants must be sure to submit their applications before the deadlines for each scholarship.

The following are some of the scholarships, awards, and bursaries available at Sheridan:

  • International Students Guard.Me Scholarship: 10 full-time students enrolled in a certificate, diploma, or postgraduate programme with a GPA of 3.0 or above in the previous academic year will receive a scholarship of USD 760.
  • International Students Guard Bachelor Degree Scholarship: 5 students enrolled full-time in a bachelor's degree programme and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher from the previous academic year will receive a USD 1140.
  • Bursaries International Students Guard Bursary: 5 students with a GPA of 2.0 or higher in diploma and certificate courses, or a GPA of 2.4 or higher in degree courses, will receive a USD 1140 prize.

How to Apply to Sheridan College?

Sheridan College does not have any set admission dates for domestic or international applicants. International applicants must submit their applications by September.

The following is the procedure for enrolling in various courses at Sheridan College:

  • Choose a programme of interest and apply online at the official website.
  • Apply together with the appropriate application fee (100 CAD).
  • Wait for an offer letter when you've uploaded all of the required documents in PDF format.
  • Accept the offer of a position at myStudent Centre after obtaining it.
  • Deposit the tuition fee for the programme.

Application decisions for the fall intake may be made as early as February 1. As a result, to receive a letter of admission, students must ensure that any further documents requested, such as a portfolio or resume, are sent on time.

The college will contact students via their registered email address and Sheridan ID number after they have submitted their application and the needed documentation. The admission offer and invoice for the programme will be included in the email. Applicants must use their ontariocolleges.ca account to accept the admission offer by the deadline.

Before earning confirmed acceptance to Sheridan College, international students must submit appropriate documentation and meet a set of eligibility criteria. Students can search the programme database, which includes more than 120-degree, diplomas, and graduate programmes.

Internships and co-op programmes provided by Sheridan College are types of education that combine classroom instruction with paid or unpaid work experiences. Work placements are precisely tied to each student's academic courses. Sheridan's co-op programmes require 360 hours to complete a work term. After graduation, co-op students found full-time jobs faster than non-co-op students.  

Internship programmes for applied degree programmes require a minimum of 14 full-time consecutive weeks (30 hours per week on average) to complete. Students can work for up to a year while studying for their certification or degree. Many programmes pay between $10 and $25 per hour.
