Popularly known as UCL, it was established in 1826 as London University. It remains a public research university. The current name was finalized in 1977. It is the 3rd largest university in the UK in terms of enrolment. It is also a member institute of the University of London.
University College London Campus
Its main campus is located in Bloomsbury in the London Borough of Camden and has all the main administrative facilities there. The second campus is called UCL East and is situated at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. UCL has other schools and facilities all around London. The University Hospitals like the UCL Hospital of Ophthalmology is based in Clerkenwell. The school of management is located in the business district of Canary Wharf. It also has a campus in Doha, Qatar.

UCL has been ranked 8th in the 2020 QS World rankings. This rank makes it the 4th top university in Europe, 3rd in the UK and 1st in London. Times Higher Education has ranked UCL 15th worldwide. Nationally, Guardian has ranked UCL 22 in the 2020 rankings.
University College London Students
UCL is the 3rd largest in the country for the number of students studying. It has over 35,000 students overall. With more than 16,800 undergraduates and 18,785 postgraduates. There are about 10,600 international students. The majority of the global student population is from Asia.

There are more than 15,000 faculty members, including teaching and academic staff. The university has 12 faculties which are further divided into departments and their research centers. Many of the staff and professors are Nobel prize Laureates, Pulitzer prize winners among other awards.
