The University of Aberdeen is the third oldest public-private educational institution in Scotland. It is an ancient institution developed in 1495 and is consistently ranked in 200 universities worldwide. The University as currently constituted came into being in 1860 after the amalgamation of the King's College and Marischal College. How to apply in University of Aberdeen

Applying to the University of Aberdeen is pretty straightforward. Before starting the application process, the applicant should be clear about the program choice. Check the entry requirements of the chosen program and then apply to the program through the direct online UCAS portal. Moreover, apply directly to the University for Part-time courses/degrees. Application fees can also differ for different programs of undergraduate and postgraduate.

  • Then, Register at the UCAS online portal or take advice from schools or colleges for further application procedures.

  • After filling the form, submit it by paying the required amount online. The fee can differ for different courses.

Eligibility

The University of Aberdeen also has particular eligibility criteria for its international students. The criteria are easy to meet and can differ for all the courses like undergraduates, postgraduates, PhD and other advanced programs. Along with specific criteria, the university also asks for the English language score that differs for all the courses. Now, the institute is accepting some online English test scores. The tests include Duolingo Test, TOEFL iBt, Language Cert international test.

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduates

  • The University of Aberdeen asks for Higher Secondary School Certificate with a minimum of 75% in Arts, Science and Engineering. 
  • A minimum percentage of 80% in English is required or, meeting the minimum language requirements is necessary. 
  • Official transcripts from high school/college are needed by the institution.
  • The minimum English test scores required by the University are overall 6.0 (5.5 or above in listening, reading, speaking and 6.0 or above in writing) in IELTS.
  • The eligibility criteria differ for the students who are opting for medicine. Here, UCAT Score (20%), interview performance (50%), academic achievements (30%) are combined. 

Eligibility for Postgraduates

  • The applicant has to submit a bachelor's degree from a Scotland University or an equivalent overseas.
  • Requirements will vary depending on the recognition of the University and the scoring system used. As a guide, a score between 60-80% is compared to UK 2.1 and, a score of 50-69% are equals to UK 2.2.
  • The University of Aberdeen also asks for English language tests score (IELTS specifically) in postgraduate courses with a higher score for advanced programs. 
  • However, in many cases, the applicant has not to submit an IETLS score if they have 80% in English in their XII. 
  • In addition, some work/internship experience is needed for admission to particular courses. 

Eligibility for PhD

  • The University asks for a master’s degree or first/second-class honors degree in a specific subject.
  • The University of Aberdeen also asks for official transcripts of the master's degree with any additional diploma if done.
