About University of Auckland 

The University of Auckland is a public university in New Zealand. It is New Zealand's largest, most comprehensive, and highest-ranked university, consistently placing among the top 100 universities in the world. In 1883, the institution became a constituent college of the University of New Zealand. Originally, it was housed in a disused courthouse. The Institution of Auckland today has over 40,000 students spread over five campuses in Auckland, making it New Zealand's largest university by enrolment.

How to apply to the University of Auckland

The admission process is as follows at the University of Auckland.

Applications are accepted through the University of Auckland's official website.

  • Step 1: Go to the official university website and establish a new profile using one of the choices listed below.
  • Step 2: Complete the registration form by entering all of your information.
  • Step 3: Complete your demographic information.
  • Step 4: Provide your contact information.
  • Step 5: After properly registering, you may begin your application by selecting either a new application or a doctorate application, as appropriate.

Eligibility

While each program has its own set of entrance standards, ranging from minimum qualifying grades to portfolios to interviews, the information below will tell you about the eligibility criteria of UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs in common.

Requirements for a Bachelor's Degree:

  • Meet the equivalent of the University Entrance (UE) criteria in New Zealand (the minimum standard for admission to New Zealand universities)
  • Meet program-specific entrance requirements, such as English language proficiency.
  • English Language Proficiency examinations are required of all overseas students who do not speak English as their first language.

Master's Degree Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area from a recognized university, plus one year of postgraduate study and an undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
  • GPE requirements must be met.
  • English Language Proficiency examinations are required of all overseas students who do not speak English as their first language.

Philosophical Doctorate (Ph.D.) Admission

  • Ph.D. is based on academic excellence and requires a master's degree in a comparable discipline with a minimum GPA.
  • Must have excellent research skills and theoretical knowledge.
  • Prior research experience in a related research project, dissertation, or thesis is required.
