  • Rockwood Conservation Area: is one of the region's most popular tourist destinations, located in the town of Rockwood, about 15 minutes northeast of Gu; elph by automobile. Rockwood Park, as it is known locally, receives over 70,000 people each year. They come here for the lovely hiking paths, the unique geology, and the chance to explore the ruins of the historic Rockwood Woolen Mills from spring through fall.
  • Guelph Lake Conservation Area:  is another popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and the general public. This magnificent park encompasses over 4,000 acres and is centred around a reservoir created in 1974 with the construction of the Guelph Dam. It's only a 10-minute drive north of downtown Guelph. Whatever the weather or your hobbies, there are plenty of enjoyable outdoor activities to do all year.
  • Arboretum at the University of Guelph: The University of Guelph owns and operates the Guelph Arboretum, which is the ideal place to unwind for a few hours. This charming site, which was founded in 1970 and is based on the famed arboretum at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has since developed into one of the city's top attractions.
  • Guelph Civic Museum: has done an excellent job of recording and exhibiting the people and environmental history of this portion of Ontario since its founding in 1967. It has been hosted in the old Loreto Convent since 2012. This magnificent structure, built in the 1850s and situated close to the Catholic Church of Our Lady on a hill, is a must-see in Guelph.
  • McCrae House: Many tourists visiting Guelph are shocked to learn that the poet, who was born in Guelph in 1872, was a Canadian. His birthplace was built in 1858 and remained in his family's possession until 1873. This simple cottage, now entirely restored and classified as a National Historic Site of Canada, looks exactly as it did when McCrae was born. Exhibits on the poet's life (he was also a doctor) and the wartime circumstances that inspired his most renowned work are among the highlights of a visit.
