About University of Leeds

The University of Leeds is a member of the Russell Group of renowned universities and is one of the largest higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. It was founded in the year 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science. Leeds' emergence as an international centre for the textile industry and apparel manufacture in the United Kingdom throughout the Victorian era is tied to the University's history. Later in 1884, it combined with the Leeds School of Medicine (founded in 1831 and), which was renamed Yorkshire College. The institution today houses 36,330 students, making it the UK's fifth-largest University (out of 169).

The main campus lies 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Leeds city centre. How to Apply to the University of Leeds?

University of Leeds Eligibility

Eligibility for UG

  • To apply to an undergraduate program, a student must be 18 years old or older.
  • Grade 12 is required for entry to undergraduate programs.

  • To apply for postgraduate programs, you must have a bachelor's degree in a comparable discipline.
  • Non-native English speakers must meet English language requirements.
  • Course-specific requirements, in addition to the academic requirements, must be met.
  • Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide the following exam scores: 6.0 or above.
  • Indian applicants must have a three- or four-year degree with a minimum of a 55% average.
