The university was founded on October 12, 1874, and is a public university with Land and Space grant. The University of Nevada has two campuses, Reno and Las Vegas, with Reno being the original campus and has landed a flagship status. The Las Vegas campus was originally a secondary Southern campus of the university, which grew rapidly and was established as a university of its own.
