The University of New Mexico, or UNM, is a public research university and the state's flagship institution, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the United States. This prestigious college, located in the center of Albuquerque, a metropolitan region of more than 500,000 people, is a well-known name in the US Education System, having been created in 1889 with the purpose of teaching students the ideals necessary to become educated citizens.

How to Apply to University of New Mexico?

In 2019, UNM had a total enrollment of 22792 students, with 5.2% of those being international students from over 100 countries. China, India, Nepal, Iran, and South Korea are the top five countries represented in the university. International students follow the same admissions procedures as local students, with the exception of a few additional requirements.

Accommodation at University of New Mexico

University of New Mexico On-Campus Accommodation

  • The institute has eight residence halls and 15 living communities.
  • Traditional, suite and apartment-style residence halls are available, with seven on-campus and one off-campus.
  • Cable TV, a 24-hour computer lab with free printing, Wi-Fi, a 24-hour service desk, free utilities, fully furnished rooms, and free laundry facilities are available in each university resident hall.
  • Each suite at the university has a mix of single and double rooms with a shared bathroom, common spaces, laundry facilities, storage, built-in shelving, bureau drawers, Co-ed Hall, six full kitchen facilities, and community bathrooms.
  • Double and luxury single rooms, full kitchen, built-in bookshelves, bureau drawers, study area on each floor, co-ed living on the same floors, and shared restrooms are all common elements of conventional halls.
  • Its apartments have single two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment-style units with a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and washing and dryer.
  • The American Campus Communities (ACC) offers two additional housing alternatives for students called On-Campus Private Partner Housing.
  • There are also residential alternatives for certain students in the Scholars Community, Navajo Nation Student Community, Graduate Student Community, Innovation Academy, and Business Floor.

University of New Mexico Off-Campus Accommodation

The school offers off-campus housing options for approved students who want to live near the school but not on campus. The dwellings cost between 6,000 and 24,000 dollars per year.

  • UNM is located in University Heights, close to a variety of colourful cafes, coffee shops, and eateries.
  • Nob Hill, a busy neighbourhood with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, an independent movie theatre, and shopping, is within walking distance of the University of New Mexico. Albuquerque's original main street, located along Rt. 66, boasts a blend of architecture that appeals to both motorists and local shoppers.
  • Albuquerque's Uptown neighbourhood is a sophisticated shopping and business hub with everything from local eateries and boutiques to globally famous department stores and restaurants. A pedestrian-friendly, open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment complex serve as the district's focal point.
  • Historic Old Town, just west of Downtown, is Albuquerque's cultural core, with ten blocks of historic adobe buildings. The Aquarium, Botanical Gardens, and Zoo are all located in Old Town, along with a Plaza, small shops and galleries, museums, and local restaurants.
