The University of Southampton was founded in 1862 as Hartley Institution and was given the  University status in 1952. However, The University  is well-known for its cutting-edge teaching methods. University of Southampton Campus

The University of Southampton has 7 campuses; of those 5 campuses are in Southampton city, one in Winchester, and one in Malaysia. How to apply in the University of Southampton

The application fee to apply in  the University of Southampton is between 15GBP-26GBP  for  undergraduate courses. There is no specific information available about  the application fee for Postgrdautee courses admissions at the university. In addition, there are deadlines for almost all full-time undergraduate courses. And these deadlines are having a long duration period. But getting admitted into the university is not at all easy for last-minute applications because the competition for admissions is high. 

International students who want to apply for undergraduate courses at the University of Southampton need to apply through the UCAS portal while for the Postgraduate taught courses and research courses students can directly apply through Online applications. 

The following is the application process for Postgraduate courses directly through the University website for international students:

  • Step 1: First, Visit the official website of the University of Southampton related to the application process.

  • Step2: Next, search the program type, mode of education, faculty, academic year, etc. details and click of search program button at the bottom of the webpage. 
  • Step 3: Next, click on Apply online button.
  • Step 4: Then go to the login and admission link and click on and start the application process by filling in the application form.
  • Step 5: If, you are a new user, then click on a first-time-user account to create a new account. If you are an existing user then on the login admissions page you can get a Login ID number along with a PIN to save the application form.
  • Step 6: use the login ID and PIN and save your partially filled application form and complete it whenever you are free to do. 
  • Step 7: Finally, Submit the application form by filling in all the required details along with submitting the required documents in the application form. 
  • Note: Submit the application form within 30 days from the starting date of your application form filling process.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for international students is different for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. There are country-specific requirements for international students along with English proficiency level tests. The University of Southampton accepts various English proficiency level exams like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, Cambridge English exams, etc. Along with these, students who are above the age of 16 must apply for Tier-4 Visa ( General) to study at the University. 

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Courses:

  • As there are country-specific requirements for international students, students from India need at least 75% of their score in Higher secondary certificates.
  • In addition, the University also needs International Baccalaureate scores between 28-38.
  • And students also need to secure high grades in UK’s A-Level exams.
  • Along with these, students need to secure the English proficiency level exams scores in the required bands stated by the University. 

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Courses:

  • Along with the Higher secondary certificates, students need to submit the Undergraduate certificate with at least 60% marks ( For Indian applicants).
  • And students must have degree levels equal to UK 1st degree scores with 55-70% and second degree with 55-65% marks. 
  • To get into an MBA course at the University, both Part-time and Full-time students need 1-3 years of work experience related to the specialization they choose. 
  • And some of the courses like courses from Science streams need GRE scores along with GMAT scores. 

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Courses: 

  • For enrolling into Ph.D. Courses, Students need to have a normal degree with relevant experience and a research proposal sample.
  • In addition, the IELTS score should be in Band F or 7.0 points with overall 6.0 points in all other components. 
  • And students with other backgrounds are also accepted to do Ph.D. in any other degrees but they need to qualify the interview process before getting admissions in it.
  • However, some courses related to engineering streams need TOEFL( IBT)  scores with a minimum of 92 marks along with a written Thesis as an Assessment before getting into the Research program.
