About University of Sunderland

University of Sunderland is a public research university, founded in 1901. Located in Sunderland, the northeast of England, it is a world-class university known for its quality teaching and research facilities. The university has more than 20,000 students from all around the world. 

Initially, it was a municipal training school, as Sunderland Technical College, and then got its university status in 1992. 

University of Sunderland Campus

There are 4 campuses in total. Two of them are situated in Sunderland, known as Sir Tom Cowie Campus and City Campus. The University opened its third campus in London in 2012 and its fourth campus in 2017 in Hong Kong

University of Sunderland Scholarships

University of Sunderland provides many scholarships to international students, promoting and encouraging them to perform and excel in their careers. In addition to these, the British government and some institutions also grant scholarships like British Council Scholarships, Euraxess Scholarships, Royal Society Grants, Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowships Programme, Scotland’s Saltire Programme, and others.

How to apply to the University in Sunderland

As an international student, there are five ways to apply for University in Sunderland. Every course has its own deadlines, and it is needed to be checked by the students from time to time. With the deadlines, the application fees also differ from course to course. 

Option 1 : University Website - To apply at the University of Sunderland from the university website, visit the website here. Find the course you want to apply and then navigate to its page to find detailed instructions on how to apply. 

 Option 2 : UCAS portal - To apply at the University of Sunderland through the UCAS portal, here are the steps:

  • Visit the website here and register with UCAS by filling in your details.
  • Complete the required details carefully. The university code is S84.
  • Enter all your qualifications from the secondary level of education
  • In case of employment history, fill the details if you had a job
  • Select your preferred courses
  • Write your personal statement in about 1,000-4,000 words
  • Submit the application
  • Add a reference and pay the application fees. 

Option 3: Overseas offices – University of Sunderland has many overseas offices in countries like China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Greece. These offices have dedicated staff to answer and help in the application process.

Eligibility

International students need to fulfill certain eligibility requirements and criteria to apply at University of Sunderland.  Every course has its own eligibility requirements to be fulfilled, that needs to be taken care of. Here are some basic eligibility criteria.

  • The university arranges a ‘Fresher’ Week’ in the first week of the year fully packed with events and activities.
