About University of Westminster

University of Westminster was formerly known as The Royal Polytechnic Institute, which was created in 1838. It is one of Britain's oldest educational institutions. In 1992, the institution was given a Royal status and renamed as  University of Westminster. Lady Frances Sorrell is the current Chancellor, and  Dr. Peter Bonfield OBE is the Vice-Chancellor. The University of Westminster, which completed its 175th anniversary in 2013, continues to spend extensively on all infrastructure, from housing to the restoration of one of Britain's original theatres on the Regent Campus.

The University of Westminster has collaborated with a number of different foundation providers and works in conjunction with Kaplan International College London to provide foundation courses for international students.

How to apply in the University of Westminster

The application process for admissions into the University of Westminster for International students can be done only through the online process. And the application procedure for Undergraduate and postgraduate courses is similar with a few differences in information. Moreover, students can apply for the University in September and January.

So, Students who want to apply for Undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Westminster need to apply through the UCAS portal. There are separate application forms for Undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the UCAS website. so, students or the applicants need to check the forms and fill in the details. 

The following is the application process for Undergraduate courses at the University of Westminster through the UCAS portal

  • Step 1:  Visit the UCAS official portal and register your email id and create an account in it.
  • Step  2: Later, sign in to the account and fill in the details like residential status, referee details, educational background, Scholarship details, etc.
  • Step 3: Later select the courses, students can select up to 5 courses for the semester.
  • Step 4: Students who want to apply for medicine, veterinary courses, etc can only apply for 4 courses.
  • Step 5: Later, fill in the information about Work experience along with a personal statement letter.
  • Step 6:  Finally, Review the application form and edit the required information and verify the information. Submit the application form along with the application fee and reference letter and also upload the required documents in the UCAS portal.

The following is the application process for postgraduate courses at the University

  • Step 1 : Visit the UCAS portal and go to the postgraduate application link.
  • Step 2 : Fill in the information in My Aly area like, personal details, funding sources, referee details, education background, Contact details, Work-related experiences,  English language skills information, etc.
  • Step 3 :  Later, submit the application form after rechecking and editing the information along with the application fee.
  • Step 4 : Some of the courses need Interviews, so, students who are applying to the University need to check all the information and also take interviews as per the information given by the University. The interview may be done through the Online portal Skye or through telephone 

Eligibility

The basic eligibility criteria for Undergraduate students is different for international countries and it is based on the university requirements. And the eligibility criteria for the postgraduate and Doctoral level courses are the same for any country. Along with the basic eligibility, students also need to provide different English proficiency level exams like  IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge English Exam, International Baccalaureate exams, Duolingo, etc. exams scores along with documents required for entering into the University of Westminster. Students need to check the admission requirements on the official website of the Univerity of Westminster along with basic and common requirements.

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Courses:

Students who want to apply for the University of Westminster from India need to meet the specific requirements of Higher secondary certificate scores like 

HSC or Grade 12th scores or percentages for different states in India 

West Bengal Board:   Higher secondary certificate with average 58% or above marks

TamilNadu, Kolkata, CBSE, and IBSE boards:   Higher Secondary Certificate with a minimum of 70% or above

Maharashtra and Gujarat Boards:  Higher secondary certificate with above 75%

Remaining state boards:   Higher secondary certificate with 80% or above marks

  • If students have done any International Foundation courses related to UK syllabus in the UK or in India they can enter into the university with a minimum of 60 to 65% of Higher secondary certificate scores.
  • Students are eligible to enter into the 2ndyear of Undergraduate courses when they have UK higher National Diploma Certificate with good grades.
  • If students want to study BA, BSc, or LLB at the University of Westminster they need to provide the English proficiency level scores along with Language Certificate International ESOL with a minimum of B2 Communicator level and Oxford International English Language Test with a minimum of B2or B2+ grades.
  • And there are also other English exams like Trinity Secure English Language test, International English Language Competency assessment, GCSE with grade C and grade D, IGCSE with Grade B and Grade C, European

Baccalaureate, etc. exams also accepted by the University.

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Courses:

  • Students who want to apply for a Postgraduate degree at the University of Westminster need to have a Bachelors's degree certificate with good marks.
  • Along with these, they need to pass the English proficiency level exams with the required marks stated by the UNiversity. 
  • Applicants who are applying for Masters in Architecture need to have a GPA of 6.0 to get admissions in the architecture department.
  • Moreover, some of the courses have auditions and interviews before admitting them to the college.
  • And all the postgraduate courses need a minimum of one reference letter along with the other required documents.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Courses:

  • Applicants who want to apply for Ph.D. courses must have an upper second class honors degree or equivalent master's degree with good grades based on the field of research. 
  • Along with this, they need to qualify for IELTS with a minimum of 6.5 marks, TOEFL with a minimum of 92, PTE with a minimum of 58 ( a minimum of 55 in each component), and Cambridge English certificate with C1 or C2 level certificates.
  • Applicants of Ph.D. courses in Law, English, Linguistics, and Cultural studies need to have an IELTS score of a minimum of 7.0 along with 65% of marks in their Masters's degree. 
  • Along with that, students who are applying for a studentship facility need to write a research proposal as guided by the University of Westminster.
