About Yale University

Founded in 1701 as the Collegiate School, it is one of the Ivy League colleges. It is a private university based in New Haven, Connecticut in the US. Named after, Elihu Yale who was a governor in the British East India Company after the college received a gift from him. The only subjects taught at Yale during the foundation year were theology and sacred languages which later slowly expanded to other subjects through humanities and social sciences. It has a single historic campus in downtown New Haven.

The campus is a mix of old Gothic-style buildings and equally iconic modern buildings. Buildings on the campus are discussed in architectural journals. The campus was called one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. It has several art galleries and a library. The campus can be distinguishably divided into two parts, the new and the old. Out of 30,237 applications, Yale accepted 1,963. Early decision applications received were 4,693, and only 753 were taken. The normal application acceptance rate was 4.7%. While the acceptance rate for initial decision application rates were 16%. The average rate of acceptance from both forms of applications was 7%.

How to apply in Yale University

Applicants can submit one of the following two applications, Coalition Application, Common Application, and QuestBridge National College match application.

  1. Open an account on one of the platforms as mentioned earlier and register with your details
  2. Submit your documents as required by your chosen course. Choose Yale-specific options on your applications
  3. Pay the non-refundable fee of 80 USD towards registration. The application fee waiver is available for those who have applied for financial aid.
  4. Submit SAT or ACT/GRE or GMAT scores as per your course requirements.
  5. Wait for your decision.
