SINGAPORE STUDENT VISA

Being among one of the top preferred higher education countries from across the world, Singapore offers some of the best universities, commonly known as Institutes of Higher Learning over there, for the students aspiring to pursue higher education from worldwide. In order to study for higher education in Singapore, an aspirant will need to have a Singapore student visa, which is commonly referred to as a Student Pass in the country. 

An aspirant will first need to apply to a university situated in Singapore and receive an acceptance letter from that particular university stating that the aspirant is selected and allowed to study over there. So, if you want to pursue higher education in Singapore, but haven’t selected a particular course or university to study, then you will first need to do that, and then only you will be eligible to get into the process of Student visa for Singapore.

Singapore Student Pass Process

The process for the student pass in Singapore will start once you get an acceptance letter from a recognized university in Singapore to pursue your higher education in the country. The Singapore student pass process is given below:

  • You can submit all required documents in original which will be forwarded to the respective
  • College/University for assessment. (Free of Charge)
  • If eligible, then the applicant has to pay 228 USD as application Fee
  • After receiving the offer letter, a complete file will be prepared with all required documents and visa application and sent directly to College/University through a courier
  • The college will put the applicant’s case into the Ministry of Singapore and wait for approval from them.
  • The college will intimate the governing committee after getting a decision from the Ministry within 30 days.
  • On approval of the visa, you will have to pay his remaining fee.
  • You will receive the visa within 45-60 days

Singapore Student Pass Interview

In order to qualify for the student pass process for Singapore, an applicant, if aged 20 years or more, will have to go through an interview process. The interview is taken under the supervision of the Singapore embassy. If the applicant is of 19 years or less and wishes to qualify for a student pass to study in Singapore, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore generally processes their applications directly.

An applicant who wishes to apply to a Singapore university will be needed to present the following documents before the institute:

  • International student application form
  • Passport
  • One Passport size photo (less than 6 months old)
  • Transcripts (Mark sheets -from 10th class till the last degree obtained)
  • Work experience certificate (If any)

Singapore Student Pass requirements

Once the aspirant has received the acceptance letter from the desired university from Singapore, they can apply for the student pass in order to be able to study in the respective universities for a period longer than 30 days. The requirements for a student pass for Singapore are:

  • Student Visa application form
  • Passport
  • One Passport size photo (less than 6 months old)
  • Visa application fee
  • Bank Statements - ORIGINAL for the last 28 days from all sponsors
  • Transcripts (Mark sheets -from 10th class till the last degree obtained)
  • Affidavit of Support to be given by the sponsor on Rs.20 stamp paper (non-judicial)
  • Work experience certificate
  • Fixed Deposit Receipts (if necessary)
  • Bank loan sanction letter (if necessary)

An aspirant will first need to apply to a university situated in Singapore and receive an acceptance letter from that particular university stating that the aspirant is selected and allowed to study over there. In order to study for higher education in Singapore, an aspirant will need to have a Singapore student visa, which is commonly referred to as a Student Pass in the country. 

Here is a step-by-step guide about how to apply for a Singapore Student Pass:

  • Start with the registration at SOLAR (Student’s Pass Online Application and Registration) which handles all the registrations
  • Enter the valid passport details, email address, and Singapore address where you will be accommodating (If not decided, then give the university’s address)
  • Make the applicable payment for the registration
  • Once the application is approved by ICA, you can pay the applicable fees for the issue

Singapore student pass charges

There will be two charges in total that the candidates will need to pay in the process of Singapore student pass:

  • Processing Fee
    S$30 (Rs 1,637 approx.) for every application submitted to ICA. For submission, you’ll be required to make a payment by debit or credit card or through internet banking. 
  • Issuance Fee
    S$60 (Rs 3,275 approx.) issuance fee applicable on every student's pass issued and a further S$30 multiple-entry visa fee. The fee is payable when the successful applicant completes the formality to collect the Student's Pass.

Singapore Student pass processing time

In order to study for higher education in Singapore, an aspirant will need to have a Singapore student visa, which is commonly referred to as a Student Pass in the country. After you have successfully completed the application form and made a successful payment of the application processing fee of 30 SGD, it is will take around 10 working days for the immigration office to process your application.
