Alike all Industrial Training Institutes, DTE& IT operates under the Craftsman Training Scheme of Government of India, Director- General Employment & Training under the directions of National Council of Vocational Training.
It is the major body that is entrusted with the coordination and development of Vocational Training in India. The Technical Education Wing of Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training has been entrusted with the responsibility of looking after Post Graduate, Degree and Diploma level Institutions in
in the State of Punjab. The process of Industrial Training is a very crucial stage for every student. It exposes students to real work of environment experience and helps them gain knowledge through hands.
The technicians from the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training not only learn basic work ethics, communication, and management of the real work world but also enhance their skills. Therefore, they form the backbone of the industry. The Department has launched many programs of strengthening, modernization, and expansion of the system, taking into account the changes in the industry.
DTE&IT, Punjab is helping in nurturing and skilling the youths of the State. It conducts examinations for the admission of prospective candidates in different ITIs of the State and their mobilization for various Engineering and non-Engineering Trades. Over time, DTE& IT has provided first-class training to their trainees.
The Department has always, from time-to-time, upgraded their syllabus to keep pace with the changing needs and requirements of the industry. It is accountable for the facilitation and support of their pass-outs for placement or self-employment. After the examinations, assessments, and results, the successful trainees across the State are provided the NTC/ STC Certificate by the Department.
Initially known as two different wings, the Department that was created on 10.06.1977 envisions to create a need-based human resource skill pool in the State. It wishes to keep close linkage with Industrial Organizations to improve the development process and placement activities.
One of the main objectives of the Department is to enhance an individual’s employability and their ability to adapt to the changing technologies and Labor Market demands. Improving productivity, enhancing living standards, attracting investments in Skill Developments, and strengthening states’ competitiveness are some of the other objectives.
It aims to create awareness and easy access to training schemes and related services to the trainees/ citizens. The Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training focuses on employing the skilled population of the State through profitable employments and wages.
It envisions to achieve the State and National targets for skilling, upskilling and re-skilling of the persons in the State. One of their many goals is to promote academic reforms, improve governance of the institutes, and invest in infrastructure to improve the quality of Industrial Training.
The Department always has and will continue to drive towards their goals with their full capacity and achieve their targets. They will continue to excel in training like they have in all these years and provide their students with the best opportunities.
