Faculty of management studies is amongst one of the top B-schools of India. It was established in 1954 is a part of the University of Delhi. It has some of the best departments in Economics, Law, Sociology, Commerce, and Operations Research. The faculty of management studies have great ROI and high placement statistics. Faculty of management studies offers programs that include a full-time MBA, an executive MBA, an executive MBA in health care administration, and doctoral programs. It also regularly conducts Management Development Programmes.

To get admission into the Faculty of management studies courses, one has to give the Common Admission Test (CAT). Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs). CAT is conducted once every year, usually in November – December. Along with the CAT scores, Group discussion, Personal interviews, and Extempores are also conducted to shortlist final candidates for admission. FMS has many international collaborations with institutes like Manchester Business School, England, and the University of Berkeley, Berkeley, USA.

Management science association (MSA) is an association run by FMS Students. It is an umbrella organization for many different societies and coordinates all activities. The various societies include Systems Society (SysSoc) – the official IT and Operations Management Society, Cultural Society (CulSoc) – responsible for managing cultural activities, Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) – which assists students who take up entrepreneurship as a career choice and many more. Faculty of management studies has many notable alumni like Harit Nagpal, MD, and CEO of Tata Sky. Mahesh Verma, VC of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, etc.

  1. FMS Delhi was ranked 4th in Inside IIMs’s “India’s Most Desirable Business Schools” in 2019.
  2. Worldwide, FMS has been ranked 2nd in India, 4th in Asia, and 29th Globally by CEO world magazine.

Faculty of Management Studies Fees

The fees of the Faculty of management studies courses are quite low as compared to other B-schools like IIMs or IITs. This is due to the fact that it is a part of the University of Delhi and gets grants from the University Grants Commission (UGC). It also has low infrastructure fees since it shares a lot of resources with a lot of other DU colleges.

The fee structure for MBA-Full Time and Ph.D. programs at the Faculty of Management Studies is approximately Rs 10,480 per year.

For MBA-Executive and MBA-Executive (Health Care Administration) programs, the annual fee payable is Rs. 50,000, which can be paid in two equal installments of Rs. 25,000 each.

Faculty of Management Studies MBA Fees

Faculty of Management Studies Cut-Off

The Faculty of management studies cut off for CAT is usually around 97 percentile. It varies for different categories. For admission in 2019, the cut-off was 98.19 percentile for general category students, 90.17 percentile for OBC, 82.19 percentile for SC, and 58.10 percentile for ST.

The final merit list takes other components into considerations as well their weightage is as follows-

  1. CAT Score- 60%
  2. Class X Marks- 5%
  3. Class XII Marks- 5%
  4. Personal Interview- 15%
  5. Group Discussion- 10%
  6. Extempore- 5 %

Faculty of Management Studies Placements

Every year 100% of the students who apply for The Faculty of management studies placements get placed. The Final Placements at FMS is a two-step process. 

The Lateral Placements program starts in December and is an endeavor to adequately compensate students with relevant prior MBA experience. The second step of the Placements Program at FMS is the Final Placements, usually held in the month of February. Many prominent companies like Asian Paints, Apple, Coca-Cola, Hindustan Unilever, IDBI Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank came for recruitment.

  1. A total of 129 companies participated in the recruitment process in 2019.
  2. The average salary rose from 23.30 LPA from 21.2 LPA
  3. The Highest package offered during the 2020 batch placements is Rs 58.6 lakh.
  4. The average salary for female students went up from 22.6 LPA last year to 25.10 LPA this year.
  5. Most jobs are offered in the marketing and IT/Operations sector.

Faculty of Management Studies Admission

Admission to FMS is made on the basis of scores of CAT, GD, PI, and extempore. However, the process of admission to MBA 2020 at Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi was delayed due to the Corona Virus lockdown. The GD-PI-Extempore round for final selection was postponed.

In the recent news for the admission 2020, weightage to GD was dropped, and PI round was conducted online for the remaining candidates who could not participate in person.

  1. MBA Seats increased to 275 from 200 last year
  2. MBA (Full Time) Programme Fee Increased to Rs.1.92 Lakhs from Rs.25,000/-
  3. 3 Additional marks are added to the Composite Score in the case of women candidates for the purpose of shortlisting.

Faculty of Management Studies Admission Procedure

For admission to FMS MBA full-time program, the candidate has to go through two steps- 

  1. The first step is to appear for the CAT Exam conducted by the IIMs.
  2. On clearing the required cut-offs and the composite score, a candidate is called for the second round, which comprises of Extempore Speech, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview (PI).

For admission to FMS MBA Executive (Evening), the candidate has to go through two steps-

  1. The candidates will be shortlisted based on their application.
  2. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The final selection will only be based on the profile of the candidate, the quality of work experience, the WAT, and PI.

Faculty of Management Studies MBA

The two years full-time residential MBA program at FMS Delhi is the flagship management course of the Faculty of Management, University of Delhi. The MBA degree after completion of the course is awarded by Delhi University.

The first year introduces students to the essential models and tools, with a focus on rigorous training in the diverse disciplines in management and the development of a strong foundation of business knowledge and management theory. The year concludes with a rigorous Summer Internship program, which allows students to explore the practical application of the management concepts.

In the second year, the students decide on their professional development plans by reflecting on their first year’s learning and Summer Internship experiences. This experience is augmented by interactions with an eclectic mix of world-renowned faculty and corporate luminaries who together teach 22 core courses and over 78 elective courses. After two years of 360-degree learning, the students move on to realize their dreams in the corporate world.

Faculty of Management Studies Executive MBA

The modular design of the two year evening MBA Executive and MBA Executive (Health Care Administration) programs has been divided into four semesters over a period of two-years. Working executives are required to complete seven core or elective courses or a combination of both in every semester. The first year of the course concentrates on imparting management fundamentals like Human Resource, Organizational Behavior, and Managing Transitions, Marketing Management, Managerial Finance, Quantitative Methods, Managing Information Technology, etc. 

The second-year maintains the momentum by building on these fundamentals and requires a focus on chosen specializations by taking courses in the areas of finance, marketing, systems, strategy, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Along with these specialization courses, the participants are also exposed to business strategy courses that focus on skills that enable future leaders to diagnose complex business situations and resolve strategic and organizational problems. In addition to these courses, the learners can opt for non-credit courses, subject to the approval of the Programme Coordinator.

Faculty of Management Studies Eligibility

Faculty of management studies eligibility criteria for admission in the college is as follows-

  1. The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a well-known institute. 
  2. The applicant must have scored 50 percent aggregate marks in their graduation exam. (general category)
  3. The applicant must have scored 45 percent aggregate marks in their graduation exam. (reserved category)
  4. Students in their final year of college can also apply for the exam.

Faculty of Management Studies Entrance Test

Admission to Faculty of Management Studies is through Common Admission Test (CAT). CAT is a computer-based MBA entrance test for admissions into the IIMs and several other prestigious B-Schools in the Country. To be eligible for the CAT exam, one should hold a Bachelor’s Degree and have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.

The students belonging to any of the reserved categories like Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Persons with Disability (PWD) or Differently Abled (DA) category must have at least 45% marks. Applicants who are appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree and the candidates who have completed their graduation degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

FAQs

✅ Does FMS consider work experience?

Ans. FMS doesn’t give weightage to work experience as such but it helps during interviews and group discussion since you will have more practical knowledge than your counterparts.

✅ Does FMS have a hostel?

Ans. FMS does not have its own hostel premises. However, students can use the hostel of Delhi University in both the north and south campus. It is not compulsory for students to live in a hostel. They can pursue the course while living at home or any other accommodation.

Is any preference given to women candidates?

Ans. No. FMS doesn’t give women candidates any preference as such. Cut-offs are calculated irrespective of the gender.

Does FMS Delhi accept GMAT?

Ans. FMS doesn’t accept GMAT from Indian students. Admission is possible only through the CAT exam. GMAT scores are accepted by NRIs who want admission into the college.

✅ I have done my CA after doing only my CA (Inter). Am I eligible to take the FMS exam?

Ans. Yes, you are. But, if you have done only CA (Inter) without completing an undergraduate degree or completing CA (Final), then you are not.
