Stanley Medical College was established in 1938.  It is a government-owned medical college with many associated hospitals. Stanley Hospital is really very old and nearly has a 200-year-old legacy serving the native Chennai. New medical and surgical units were created and incorporated in 1941. Stanley medical college was founded by Sir George Fedrick Stanley on July 2, 1938. It was first named as Royapuram medical school and later on, it was renamed as Stanley Medical college because of him.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates can apply to the college through their NEET UG  Medical Scorecard for any undergraduate programs.
• Candidate can apply to the college through their NEET PG  Medical Scorecard for postgraduate programs.

Undergraduate Courses:

High Secondary School Certificate or Senior Secondary exam by the SSC, CBSE, ICSE or any equivalent exam conducted by any State Board or Equivalent.

He/she must have scored a minimum of 50% Aggregate marks in PCB/Biotech.

Post Graduate Courses:

• Applicants should have a Graduation and Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine (MBBS).

Stanley Medical College Cut-Off

Students who wish to apply for Stanley Medical College have to appear for the NEET entrance examination to qualify for the admission process. They need to secure a minimum score set by the college selection board as per the availability of seats. On the basis of this, a merit list is created.

• The Undergraduate cut-off for UR Category in 2019 was 701-134. For the OBC/SC Category the cut-off score was 133-107.

Stanley Medical College Hostel:

The first year and second-year students stay in the NEW MEN’S PG HOSTEL along with the postgraduate students. It was built in 2011 and looks very neat and tidy. This is located opposite the hospital.

The third and final year students are allotted hostels near the hospital itself called H, I and RED block. They are very old but the surrounding is very pleasant.

In each hostel, they have a recreation room and an air-conditioned Reading room that is kept open 24/7 for the students.

The Stanley college hostel fees for students is 3500 per month. This includes fees for stay and the basic amenities provided in the room and mess fees. 

Stanley Medical College Hospital: 

The Stanley medical Hospital has around 1280 beds for patients undergoing treatment. Over 5000 out-patients visit the hospital every day. The Hospital is an 8-storey building well-equipped with the best technologically advanced equipment like ventilators, X-ray and sonography machines and all the required surgical tools. At a time, 40 surgeries can be performed at the Hospital. The doctors ensure to provide world-class services to the patients and have expertise in their respective fields. It also has a paediatrics block specially designed and equipped with the best facilities.
