The U.S Embassy in New Delhi is one of the biggest diplomatic institutions in the world, which shows how much importance is given by the U.S in its relationship with India. Located in 24 Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi, 17 U.S Federal agencies, including the U.S Department of the state to the Federal Aviation Administration, are represented by the U.S embassy.

To ensure that the U.S – India relationship stays strong throughout the country, the UD embassy in New Delhi also coordinates the works and efforts of the other four branches spread throughout the country in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The Embassy also provides a virtual consulate through online services to the residents of Bangalore.

The Embassy also has a cultural center that offers various cultural fests such as art exhibitions, musical programs, book launches, etc. It also houses the American Library, and a public library opens every day but Sunday.

The current chancery is located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, and was first opened in 1959. It was designed by the famous architect Edward D. Stone. Located next to the chancery is the Roosevelt House, which is the Ambassador’s residence.

An air quality monitoring program is also maintained by the U.S Embassy and Consulates General in India with the help of on-site air quality measuring instruments. The New Delhi U.S Embassy’s air pollution monitor covers the area of Chanakyapuri and measures PM 2.5 particulates around the compound of the Embassy.
