Problem-solving tasks or exercise questions are some of the important aspects that you might have seen in many examinations. Problem-solving helps you to make better decisions. Having the skills to solve problems quickly and effectively can help you to make quick decisions that don’t lead to daily conflicts.

One must go through a whole procedure in the back of their minds to enhance their problem-solving skills. This problem could have arisen in your daily work issue or even in your personal lives. Skills for facing the problem and solving it can help an individual. This skill could even be listed down on your resume.

Let’s discuss below how to effectively solve a problem and bring your skills of problem-solving to work:

  1. Know the problem: Once you identify your issue create an idea about it in your mind. If its a team problem then remember everyone is different and their area of interest could be different from yours.
  2. Know about interest everyone: Don’t solve it alone but take everyone’s opinion. Understand what everyone has to say and what is their idea of solving the required idea.
  3. Create a checklist: Brainstorm for solutions. Create a list of how this problem can be dealt with in different ways. This is the time when your creative skills can be put to test. Evaluate the options and discuss them with everyone in the team or close to you.
  4. The part of the Evaluation: There are two sides to a coin. There pros and cons to everything you do. As you create a list of solutions weigh the pros and cons on both the side and evaluate it. This step is crucial as it will help you to decide on which areas you need to work on from a wide variety of options available.
  5. Write everything down: Don’t leave anything to your memory. Write down the issue as well as all your thoughts till now. If you think you will remember it and work on it later, you probably won’t. There’s even a high chance that you might forget about it sooner than you think. Writing your ideas can help you to remember it and discuss it for even a longer period, as long as you don’t lose that piece of paper.
  6. Selection of your options: You are about to create your solution, but don’t you think a second option should be kept? This could be your backup solution if one doesn’t work out. List down those options on your list and do the same process for it too. Listing out the options can help because if one idea does not work out, the second plan is ready too.
  7. Monitor the work: Evaluate the work and monitor the plan you are working on right now. Monitoring on the pan can help you get an idea if your whole planned worked out efficiently, or you need to be ready for Plan B.
