A designated learning institution is a college or university that has been approved to accept overseas students by a province or territorial authority. Students pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees must get a Study Permit. Candidates must get an admission letter from a designated learning institution in order to obtain a Study Permit. A DLI number is assigned to each designated learning institute (DLI) in Canada. We shall provide a list of approved learning institutes in Ontario in this post.

What is DLI in Canada?

An acceptance letter from a designated learning institution is required to apply for a study permit. A designated learning institution is a school that has been approved by the government of a province or territory to accept overseas students. In Canada, all elementary and secondary schools are designated learning institutions.

Reasons to choose DLI Colleges in Canada

Over 700 DLIs in Canada offer foreign students Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) programs. International students can use a PGWP to get meaningful Canadian work experience for a minimum of 8 months and up to three years.

Following are the main reasons for choosing a DLI college in Canada:

  • A federal agency or government administers DLI colleges in Canada
  • In terms of higher education, they meet all provincial requirements in Canada
  • DLI institutions in Canada award degrees or diplomas that are internationally recognized.

What is the DLI number in Canada?

The DLI number is a collection of numbers that have been allocated to all of the colleges and universities on the DLI Canada list. It is distributed to post-secondary institutions once IRCC obtains confirmation from the provincial or territorial ministry of education of their designation status. The external phrase for Organization ID in GCMS is “DLI number.” Once IRCC gets confirmation of a post-secondary institution’s designated status from its provincial or territory minister of education, this number is assigned.

How to change the DLI number in Canada?

You can modify your DLI as long as you’re still following the requirements of your study permit.
