OET Exam is a type of English test for healthcare professionals. Its full form is an Occupational English test. It is a type of language test conducted for healthcare professionals. It is recognized by many healthcare regulatory bodies. This test assesses the language and communication skills of the healthcare professionals’ Exam is available for many professions in healthcare like dentistry, professions science, speech pathology, science, speech therapy, etc.

What is OET Exam

This test has been developed to cover all 12 health care professions. It mainly tests the four language skills which use the materials of test which will reflect the communication and language skills of the healthcare assesses 2013 this test is conducted by Cambridge Boxill Language Assessment or Language professionals who want to study or work in various countries like Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Ireland, Singapore, Dubai, etc. usually applies for OET. The exam generally tests the ability of their English proficiency level.

There are many rumours that OET is easier to pass than IELTS Academic. The level required from each examination by Regulatory Authorities in the UK is the same. This rumour seems to have appeared because many healthcare professionals who sat OET passed first-time. OET Exam Date

The OET Exam date for 2022 is Saturday 8 January 2022. The application dates start from 9 August 2021 to 3 December 2021. The result for the OET Exam 2022 is expected to be out on 28 January 2022.

OET Exam Fees

The candidates who wish to give the OET exam have to pay AUD 587 which includes many services with candidates paying the fees the candidate needs to follow the given below procedure:

  • First, you need to complete the application process after reaching the official website.
  • Once you reach the official website press Apply in the top right corner.
  • There will be much information like payment requirements, document requirements, and test fees.
  • After reading all that carefully fill in all the requirements like the photographic ID.
  • \After that start filling the application form.
  • After completing the application for you need to do a payment. 
  • You will be provided with a button to add 4 sub-tests to add in your cart.
  • In this step, you should add the 4 tests which you are taking (listening, reading, writing, and speaking).
  • After that complete the billing information by entering your credit card details.
  • Once you agree to the terms and conditions you will see that the payment is completed and the confirmation message has been sent to you.

OET Exam fees in India

The OET exam fees in India would cost up to 56.08 INR. It is advised to the students that they should fill the application form within the dates mentioned to avoid late fees. The OET Exam fees in other countries are equal to AUD 587.

To sit for the four OET sub-test which also include the online booking fee is AUD 587.

To sit for one sub-test including the online booking fee it is AUD 200.50.

To sit for two sub-tests including the online booking fee it is AUD 339.

To sit for the three OET tests including the online booking fee it is AUD 477.50

Reading Section, the reading section has a total of 42 questions that need to be solved in 60 mins. This section is divided further into 3 sections. In this section, the candidates need to solve the questions related to general healthcare.

Part A (Expeditious Reading)

In this section, the candidate needs to read four short essays and find out specific information from the text. The questions here usually match the following, short answer questions and sentence completion.

Part B (Careful Reading)

In this section the candidates will be given many short tests, they need to identify the main points and answer the MCQs. The topics included in the essay are from hospital guides, memos to internal, emails, manuals, policy guidelines, etc.

Part C (careful Reading)

In this section, the candidate needs to identify the in-depth meaning of the topics given to them and answer all the MCQs.

Writing Section

This section asks the candidate to write letters which are usually dealing with their field of specialty. The total time given for this section is 45 mins.

Listening Section

 This section is further divided into 3 sections. Here the candidates will be made to hear the recorded speech and they should answer the questions while listening to the recorded speech. 

Part A (consultation Extracts)

In this section, the candidates need to identify specific information during the consultation. They should complete their health professional notes by listening to the recorded health professional-patient consultations.

Part B (Short Workplace Extracts)

In this section, the candidates are required to listen to the various recorded extracts which are usually the briefings, health professional patient’s dialogues, and handovers. They should also answer one much for each extract.

Part C (Presentation Extracts)

In this section, the candidates need to listen to the various recorded interviews and presentations usually dealing with the topics of accessible healthcare and they should also answer mocks from each extract.

Speaking Section

To complete this action the candidates are given a total of 20 mins. In this section, the candidates need to speak about their professional role in real-life situations in a professional environment of healthcare. Each candidate is given 3 mins to prepare for it before they start their speech.

  • Complete and fill in all the details such as the valid ID.
  • Go through all the terms and conditions and click on I agree if you accept.
  • Select a password, username, and a security question and answer.

How to book OET Exam

To book OET Exam on a computer follow the given below steps

  • Go to booking.oet-global.com and follow all the given instructions.
  • Create or make your OET account and select the test which you want to give.
  • You should have a credit card and ID.
  • Now click on the book your test after creating the account.
  • Read all the terms and conditions before you go to the next screen.
  •  Proceed through the booking process further after completing the various details required.
  • Upload our ID.
  • Now proceed through the payment page and do payment and booking finally.

OET Exam Results

To see the exam results of OET you can download the statement of your results from the OET main portal. On the left side of the test details, an ACTION column is there. Click on that. You will find many small triangles. Click on one of those triangles and download the statement of result. The result of OET will be published on 28 January 2022. The results of this exam will be usually published after 16 business days of the examination.
