The United States of America has become the most preferred destination in terms of education among Indian students. Presently, this land “Land of the Golden Fleece” attracts the largest number of international students in the English-speaking world followed by the United Kingdom and Australia. There are several reasons to go to the USA in the hunt of good colleges abroad. The first reason being it houses some of the best educational institutions in the world. According to the QS World University rankings, half of the top 10 best University in the world is located in the USA which includes the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Harvard University, California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and University of Chicago, in order. If one is intending to study in countries except for the USA and few others then immigration must be given a thought, because it is true that most countries have strict rules with respect to stay back of international students and do not allow them to do so after they complete their education. However, USA is one of the exceptions; the F-1 non-immigrant student visa permits the applicants to take up work on the campus for up to 20 hours for every week in the initial nine months. US Universities Deadlines for Fall 2020- Preparation for applying

In order to apply to a US university, one should prepare early between August and September. In August one should at least shortlist 8-12 universities that one wants to apply to. The university’s’ websites are to be visited and application requirements and deadlines are to be noted. By September, one should be familiar with bank loan options to fund one’s studies. Then between June and December crack the required tests like GMAT, GRE, SAT, TOEFL or IELTS, depending on the course and university. Three months before the test date on should register for GMAT/GRE. Similarly, for TOEFL/IELTS, registration should be done a month before the test date. During the fall, one shouldn’t delay replying to college emails and even appear for personal interviews. Depending on the deadline, in this case being fall, universities should be notified of one’s decision. One will need to pay a non-refundable deposit to confirm one’s admission. Once this is done, scholarships should be searched for. The fall semester in the USA starts in late August and ends in late December or early January while the Spring semester begins in January and ends in early May.

US Universities Deadlines for Fall 2020- Advantages of Fall Intake

The major advantage of the fall intake is the number of courses on offer. Most colleges offer numerous courses in fall, a relatively smaller number of courses are offered during the Spring semester. Another key advantage is the number of sources for financial aid which a student can obtain. While funding is available during the spring intake, the amount of opportunities present in fall is much higher. The on-campus jobs, teaching assistants and research assistants’ positions usually open up during the fall semester intake, preference is usually given to students who have completed at least one year in college which means one would have completed only 6 months of college at that time, that student will be disadvantaged. Students admitted in the Spring semesters may be clustered in a few of their classes with Fall semester candidates who have the lead of one semester over them. In order to be involved with a student organization, fall intake would be a more appropriate option especially if the student is keen on winning a significant position within the organization. This is since the new leaders are each time elected at the end of the Spring semester, by joining in the spring semester one will not have sufficient time to show one’s real potential. Universities need the students to have been registered for a minimum of nine months afore applying for internships outside the college. This would pose a problem for Spring candidates as they would not meet the eligibility criteria for the internship held in the Summer because it is next to their admit. Job intakes will be reduced for Spring applicants in their first semester as all the offered posts would have previously been taken by the Fall applicants because of their semester gain. The issue of the F1 Visa also rests wholly on the candidate’s profile and the essential requirements which are that one will not face any difficulty even if one is joining a college in the spring intake.
