About McGill University

McGill University is a public research university in the Canadian city of Montreal. The university carries the name of James McGill, a Scottish trader whose donation in 1813 established the university's antecedent, the University of McGill College (or simply McGill College); the name was officially changed to McGill University in 1821 by a royal charter granted by King George IV. McGill University has been a member of the Association of American Universities, an organisation that brings together the greatest North American research universities, since 1926.   • Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide either of the following exam scores: IELTS- 6.5, TOEFL- 90, or more.
  • Indian applicants must have a three- or four-year degree with a minimum of a 60% average.
