About University of Alabama

The University of Alabama is an independent research university that was founded in 1820 and is Alabama's largest and oldest university. The very first classes of the university were held in 1831. Universities Research Association, University of Alabama System, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities are just a few of the prestigious organizations with which it is affiliated. William Nicholas, a well-known architect, designed and built the university's infrastructure. The University was created under legislative demands and authorizations as a result of provisions of the constitution. It aims to improve the intellectual and social well-being of the people of the state by providing high-quality teaching, research, and service initiatives.  

The University of Alabama's activities is based on a diverse set of research and creative endeavors, many of which have been acknowledged for their contributions to the state's economic, technological, and cultural development. The Organizations like The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools have accredited the university. Students are supervised by knowledgeable faculty members.

There are 3 Campuses for the University of Alabama. The main campus of the University is in Tuscaloosa, United States. And the remaining 2 are, one in Huntsville and another one is in Birmingham. The main campus is in the area of 1,143 acres and it is called Capstone of the University of Alabama System. University of Alabama: Acceptance rate

The Maximum average acceptance rate of the University of Alabama is 82.7%. Usually, the acceptance rate is fluctuating between 80.4% to 82.7%. But, it shows that the University is lightly selective in terms of the admission process. Students need both SAT and ACT scores along with GPA points to get eligible for admissions and scholarships at the University of  Alabama.   • Scholarship for International UA Competitive Admissions in 2022:All students who are admitted by the deadline are given a complete evaluation based on academic and non-academic information on their admission application. GPA in high school and academic honors are two academic factors that are taken into account. Leadership skills, voluntary work, extracurricular activities, employment, and non-academic awards are examples of non-academic elements.
  • This scholarship is worth $8,000 and it covers tuition fees.
  • Deadlines:
    • Students must be accepted by November 1st, 2022.
    • Students must be accepted by January 15, 2022, for the Fall/Summer semester.

Competitive Scholarships for Out-of-State and International Transfer Students in 2022:

Admitted transfer students who complete the Transfer Scholarship Application by October 1st for the spring semester and the Transfer Scholarship Application by March 1st for the fall semester and meet the qualifying minimum hours of transferable coursework by the summer semester or the fall semester before enrolling are eligible for the following competitive scholarships:

  • Students with 45 or more credit hours who are transferring from a two-year institution:
  • Capstone Transfer Scholarship: This scholarship covers tuition for two years for out-of-state students (four semesters)
  • Phi Capstone Scholarship from Theta Kappa: The worth of this scholarship is $6,000and it is given for two years (four semesters)
  • Students with at least 15 credit hours who are transferred from a 4-year or 2-year institution:
  • Roll Tide Transfer Scholarships: The value of this scholarship is $6,000 per year.
  • Graduate Fellowships: University of Alabama Graduate School fellowships are for one academic year (unless otherwise noted) (fall and spring). The scholarship offers a full-tuition scholarship (for up to 15 graduate hours each fall and spring semester), single-coverage health insurance, and a $20,000 stipend for the academic year.
  • Automatic Merit Scholarships: If you are a worthy main campus student, you will be eligible for the University of Alabama's automatic merit scholarship until December 15 if you are enrolling in the spring semester, and until May 1 if you are enrolling in the autumn or summer semesters.

How to apply in the University of Alabama

The application fee for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses are different at the University of Alabama. International students need to pay the application fee through Credit or debit cards as the application is done through Online mode. The application fee for Undergraduate Courses is $ 40 and for the Postgraduate  Courses is $ 65. The University permits the students in 3 intake periods Fall, Spring, and Summer. 

International students who want to apply in to the University of Alabama for any Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Online courses  can apply only through University's official website.

The following are the steps to apply to the University of Alabama for International students:

  •  Step 1: First, visit the official website of the University of Alabama. 
  • Step 2: Students who are newly applying need to create an account on the website by registering themselves and the already-using students just need to sign in to the account with an email and password. 
  • Step 3: Next, Click in to create a new application form and select the options like Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Online, etc. 
  • Step 4: Later, enter the details like name, contact details, citizenship, etc.
  • Step 5: Fill in all details like academic details, course details, school, information, etc and review the application form before submitting the form. 
  • Step 6: Finally, pay the application fee and wait for the call from the University. 
  • Note: International Students are requested to apply for the University before 6 months of the desired semester period. Because some courses have a limited period to apply. So, students need to check the deadline periods before applying for their desired courses. 

Eligibility

The Eligibility criteria for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students is different and also there are some course-specific requirements for international students to join at Univeristy of Alabama. Along with these, international students need to qualify for the English proficiency level tests like TOEFL, PTE, IELTS, etc to get admission to the University. And also students need to provide all the required and stated documents while applying for the University. In addition to these, students must apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa and newed to submit the visa copies as proof for the University. 

Eligibility Criteria for Undegrdaute Students:

  • Students from outside the United States need to get at least a 2.75 GPA in their higher secondary school Certificates.
  • And the University of Alabama needs the student's study curriculum with language - 4 units, Natural sciences- 3 units with laboratory work, Mathematics - 3 units with Geometry, Algebra, etc,  Social sciences - 4 units and Other subjects - 5 units with arts, dance, etc.
  • For the courses like Advertising, students need at least 40 hours of work experience in writing or at least completing the course related to it. 
  • For the Engineering courses, students at least need a C- grade in the related subject to join the University.
  • Along with these, students need to submit the English test scores with the range stated by the University.

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Students:

  • Students who want to join in Postgraduate courses need a degree certificate in the same subject.
  • Along with that, they need to qualify for the GRE/ GMAT exams to apply for MAster's courses.
  • And some subjects like Masters in Applied Statistics, Masters in Accounting, etc need Competitive exams scores related to subjects like Certified Public Accountant( CPA), SAS Predictive Modeler Exam, etc.
  • There are course-specific requirements for major courses and the GPA for some courses is above 3.0 points. 

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. students:

  • To join Ph.D. courses at the University of Alabama students need at least 600 marks in GMAT and 1200 marks in GRE along with good GPA points.
  • Along with that, students need to submit letters of recommendation, letters of reference while applying at the University.
  • In addition, for engineering Ph.D. degree students need to have 6 hours of Mathematics scores.
  • And the TOEFL scores must be a minimum of 79 and IELTS scores must be a minimum of 6.5 are required.
