How to apply in University of California Santa Cruz?

The application procedure is the same for all UC campuses, and applicants will be asked to select which ones they'd like to apply to. The application for admittance also works as a scholarship application. For students in the United States, the application price is $70. If students wish to apply for more than 1 UC campus simultaneously, they must submit a $70 application fee for every UC campus. Fee exemptions are provided to students from low-income families who meet specific criteria. For international candidates, the application fee is $80/campus.

  • Select a Program & Year/Quarter on the "Application Instruction" section.
  • Fill up the required biographical information and personal background like DOB, name, mailing address, etc.
  • Complete all needed pages & items (indicated with "*").
  • Make payment for the application costs. For overseas applicants, the application cost for the 2020-21 application season is $140. The fee can be completed using a credit card.
  • Finally, submit your application. It's strongly recommended that you submit the application & accompanying materials far ahead of the deadlines.

University of California Santa Cruz - ELIGIBILITY

Make sure you're qualified to apply for the programme at UCSC before you start filling out the application. Varying programs have different qualifying requirements, although the majority of the courses have the exact prerequisites.

Eligibility for Undergraduate

There were about 17,200 undergrad enrollments at the UC -Santa Cruz. Following are the academic records required by the University.

  • Finish 15 year-long academic education with a GPA of 3.40.

2 years of social science.

3 years of math (geometry & advanced algebra).

2 years of a 2nd language.

2 years of lab science.

1 year course of performing arts & visuals.

4 years of literature & composition in the language you've been taught.

1 extra course from any of the topics mentioned above areas.

Eligibility for Postgraduate

At the UC - Santa Cruz, over 1,500 postgraduate students were accepted. The University encourages students to enrol in programs in which the avg. GRE score for the most recent batch is lower than the applicant's score.

  • A bachelor's degree or equal from an approved university awarded (conferred) previous to the quarters for which admittance is requested.
  • A PG diploma, Master's, or higher degree is required for applicants with a 3 undergrad degree.
  • Secretarial, vocational, technical, or associate degrees aren't eligible as 1st degrees.
  • Extension university degrees are ineligible for use as 1st degrees.
  • Official transcripts for degrees that abide by the Bologna Accord should say such.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the final 2 years of undergrad study. This must appear on the official academic transcripts.
  • Language proficiency proof.

Eligibility for PhD

PhD students at UCSC come from worldwide and have a wide range of experiences & backgrounds. They come from California, the United States, and other countries. Applicants will be assessed on their own merits and how effectively the program's available resources can facilitate their planned doctorate dissertations.

  • A bachelor's degree or equal from an approved university awarded (conferred) previous to the quarters for which admittance is requested.
  • Experience in Dealing with culturally & linguistically diverse groups is a plus.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Scores on the GRE are not necessary.

ACCOMMODATION AT UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SANTA CRUZ

Whether students live on-campus or off-campus, all undergrads at the University Of California Santa Cruz are linked with one of ten residential colleges. In addition to accommodating individuals in small-scale residential communities, each college offers academic assistance, organizes student activities, & promotes events that enrich the campus' social and intellectual life.

ON-CAMPUS ACCOMMODATION

  • For the first 2 years at UCSC, newcomers and recent transfer students who enrol in the fall term are assured university accommodation. To be eligible for assurances, all criteria must be met.
  • Before enrolling for accommodation, students must be accepted as full-time students and linked with one of the ten institutions.
  • UCSCs' colleges provide two types of residential accommodations: apartments & resident halls, both of which have access to communal eating facilities.
  • Common restrooms & lounge facilities are available on the hall floors, generally shared by 12 - 30 students.
  • Apartments contain communal dining/living spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, and a mix of shared & personal bedrooms and are often shared by 4 to 7 students.
  • Accessible housing is available within every community for disabled students.

OFF-CAMPUS ACCOMMODATION

  • Redwood Grove Apts, situated on the western side of campus amid Kresge College & Grad Student Housing, is a community for undergrads from all campuses to live together.
  • The Village, situated in the Low Quarry, is home to a mix of ongoing undergrad & grad students. Every one of the 17 residences is equipped with 9 single bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a kitchenette.
  • Ongoing students can live in two-& three studio homes in the UTC (Uni. town centre) located at the intersection of Cathcart & Pacific.
  • On the western part of campus, Family-Student Housing includes flats for students & their families.
  • Single grad students can live in 4 bedroom apartments on the western part of premises, between Kresge College & the Baskin Engineering Department.
  • Students using recreational vehicles have access to a 42-space camper area on the northern side of the premises.

Key Attractions

Santa Cruz is defined by its stunning heritage and promising tourist future. Forbes magazine has named UCSC one of the "most beautiful" campuses in the world. Aside from the college architecture, the campus features a lovely 'jungle walk' where any college student may go to relax & breathe in some fresh air. There are several bars, cafés, and pubs to choose from if you want to spend some time relaxing.

  • Arboretum – Massive collections of flora from the South Pacific & South Africa and other exotic flora, a eucalyptus grove, and a rock garden can be found at the Arboretum.
  • Shanty Brewing Shack – This brewery is a perfect place for friends to get together after a long day at the University.
  • Natural bridges beach – The beautiful sealine is not very far from the UCSC campus and is the perfect spot for an outing with friends or a beach bonfire.
  • University Library – The library's outstanding collection, which comprises nearly 2M volumes and over 27,400 periodical items, is housed in the Science & Engineering and McHenry libraries.
  • Art galleries – The Sesnon Art & the Eloise Pickard Gallery are the two largest art galleries on university premises. Both arrange exhibits of work by modern artists and notable collections of historical importance throughout the academic year.
  • Farm & garden – West of the major entry road lies the 30-acre farm, where the Hub for agroecology and sustainable farming systems undertakes much of its activity.
  • Observatory – The public can see the Shane telescope, which is open daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and Christmas Eve.
