Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women is a teaching and research institute that facilitates and promotes studies, research, innovation, technology, and other similar areas of professional education for women. IGDTUW was recently upgraded from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology IN May 2013 under Delhi State Legislative Act 9, 2012, which has enabled the institute to function even more efficiently.
With its primary focus on engineering, technology, applied sciences, management, and its allied areas, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University holds a wide range of branches in the same to promote and advance knowledge in the field. The institute believes in disseminating knowledge and learning among women and helps them meet the requirement of a technically skilled women workforce. The institute not only fosters various industries with researches and technologies but also empowers and educates women so that they become employable and self-reliant; also makes them a skilled asset and responsible citizen of the country.

Courses and Degrees

Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women offers Bachelor of Technology courses in four different levels, i.e.,

  • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE).

One can get admission in the University based on their IIT JEE MAINS rank. B. Tech courses, students are selected through Joint Admission Counselling (JAC). The University offers a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Post Graduate degrees as well. With American Express, DELL, Deutsche Bank, Honda, Microsoft, Maruti Suzuki as some of their top recruiters, IGDTUW is one of the first women’s technical universities in India.

In 2019, it was ranked 162nd by the National Institutional Ranking Frame (NRF) among other engineering colleges in India.

Campus Life, Facilities, and Hostel

Apart from the various milestones and success stories of the University, IGDTUW has ample of activities and spaces for students to take part in and take the burden off studies for a while. The University has an auditorium as well as a gymnasium for students to work out and perform activities.

The University library is filled with books of various genres; from fiction to science, it has it all. The University Campus also has many academic laboratories, which is where all the research and practices take place. Apart from all the above, the University has many common rooms for students to spend time together.

They are filled with many indoor games such as Table Tennis, Pool, and Foosball and are also equipped with yoga facilities. For students who don’t wish to go back and forth between college and home, the University has a hostel facility with an accommodation capacity of approximately 340 students. The hostel has two wings- Krishna Hostel and Kaveri Hostel with well-lit and facilitated rooms.

Student Life and Cultural

The University also organizes their annual cultural fest called Taarangana, which was held for the first time on 31st January – 1st February 2014. Henceforth, it is organized every year by the University around the last week of January or the first week of February. Innerve is the annual fest of all the technical departments of IGDTUW and is organized every year around October.

The University also hosts the Entrepreneurship Summit every year. The Summit is a two-day event that brings various stakeholders of entrepreneurial mind-set under one roof to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship. The Summit, organized by the EDC, is held every year around March. Other fests organized by IGDTUW include Espectro, Impulse, Tremors, Exebec.

The University also has many clubs for students to enroll themselves in and participate in numerous extra-curricular activities. Some of them are Technoliterati- the Literary Society, Antargat- the Creative Society for waste management practices, the Economics Society, Greensphere- the Environmental Society, Tarannum- the Music Society, ZENA- the fashion society, RAHNUMA- the Dramatics Society, HYPNOTICS – the Dance Society.
