Gujarat State Eligibility Test or GSET is a state-level test organized for the recruitment of candidates for Lecturer/Assistant Professor. Conducted by Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, GSET Exam 2020 is to be held sometime in December.

What is the GSET Exam?

Gujarat State Eligibility Test or GSET, is a state-level eligibility exam conducted by the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, to recruit aspiring professors in the state of Gujarat. The exam consists of 2 papers, Paper I and Paper II, and is held in 11 exam centers across Gujarat.

How to crack the GSET Exam?

With hard work, perseverance, proper planning, and consistent studying, any candidate may excel in an exam as competitive as GSET. Given below are a few preparation tips that candidates may use if they wish to crack the GSET.

1. Know the Syllabus:

To be fully prepared for GSET, candidates must know the syllabus. It ensures overall preparation by allowing one to divide their time for each topic successfully.

2. Understand Exam Pattern:

Candidates should know the structure of the question paper and even go through past exam papers to establish a pattern. It is extremely helpful to be familiar with the type of questions that may come in the exam since it allows a candidate to solve those questions with relatively less time. Even simple queries are cleared if one understands the exam pattern.

3. Prepare Short Notes:

Short notes are extremely beneficial when one has to memorize large quantities of information. The process of making notes is a form of studying too. Notes also help when revising for the exam.

4. Practice:

Proper preparation is incomplete without practice. Candidates need to use different tricks to ensure they are prepared for the exam.

GSET Exam Result 2020

GSET Exam Result 2020 will be declared as a merit list and will be released on the official website. Only aspirants that have appeared for Paper I & Paper II will be able to check their results. There is no provision for re-evaluation of papers. Candidates can check their exam results on https://www.gujaratset.in/.

GSET Exam Date 2020

GSET 2020 will tentatively be conducted in December. A definitive date is yet to be announced, and more information about that will be available on the official website.

GSET Exam 2020 Apply Online

Candidates may apply online for the GSET by filling the application form available on the official website: www.gujaratset.ac.in

GSET Online Application Form

  1. The application form is available online only, and no offline submission will be available.
  2. The online application process consists of 2 steps: Online payment of examination fees and Registration for GSET exam.
  3. Applicants will be required to fill their personal, education, and contact details in the Application form.
  4. Applicants have to upload scanned copies of recent passport size photographs and their signature.

How to fill GSET?

Here are the following steps to fill the GSET:

Step 1: Pay Examination Fee

  • Candidates need to visit the official GSET website www.gujaratset.ac.in for fee payment.
  • Follow the instructions given on the website to complete the payment of a fee.
  • Print the examination fee receipt that is generated after the transaction is successful.
  • Candidates should note down their Order Number and SBIepay Reference ID for Step 2, i.e., online registration of application form.

Step 2: Register Online for GSET Examination

  • After the successful payment of GSET 2020 exam fees, candidates have to register for GSET.
  • Candidates have to visit the official GSET website.
  • Candidates need to log-in to their account by using their Order Number and SBIepay Reference ID (which was given when fee payment was completed).
  • Click “Apply Online” to fill the application form for GSET.
  • Candidates will need to fill details such as personal, academic, contact details, etc. in the GSET 2020 online application form.
  • Candidates will need to upload a scanned passport size photograph (the scanned image must be in JPEG format, and the size must be less than 100 KB).
  • It is advised that candidates check the entered details and whether the form is filled correctly before submitting it.

GSET Passing Criteria

The passing criteria for GSET is that the candidates must obtain the cut-off marks (as specified by the university) and be in the top 15 on the subject and category wise merit lists. Following that, a merit list is prepared to contain the names of the selected candidates. GSET passing criteria is given below:

  1. The number of candidates that qualify for GSET should be equal to 6% of the total number of candidates.
  2. The total slots allocated to different categories should be as per the reservation policy of the Government of Gujarat State.
  3. Candidates must appear for both Paper I & II and secure minimum cut-off marks to be eligible for recruitment.

GSET Admit Card

Candidates may download their GSET admit card from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda official website. Typically, authorities issue the admit card a week before the date of the exam. A candidate will not be allowed to appear for the exam if they don’t possess a valid admit card.

GSET Hall Ticket

To download the GSET hall ticket, candidates need to enter their Order Number and SBIePay Reference ID on the official website of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The GSET hall ticket will mention the venue of examination along with other details. All candidates should have their hall tickets since they will be asked to present it by the invigilator/examination superintendent/observer.

How many papers will be there for GSET?

Ans. The GSET exam consists of two papers, Paper I & Paper-II.

1. Paper I consists of 50 objective type questions, and each question carries two marks. The paper tests reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate.

2. Paper-II consists of 100 objective type questions, and each question carries two marks. The paper is based on the subject selected by the candidate.

What are the cut-off marks for GSET?

Ans. The cut-off marks for candidates belonging to different categories are given below:

1. Candidates from the general category: score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together.
2. Candidates from other categories such as SC, ST, PWD(PH/VH), SEBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer), and Transgender: score minimum 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together.

What is the application fee for GSET?

Ans. The application fee can be paid online only, using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking. Fee submitted through any other means such as Money Order, Cheque, Pay Order, IPO, etc. will be rejected. Processing charges & Goods and Services Tax (GST) are to be paid by the candidate. General / General-EWS / SEBC Non-creamy layer) Candidates.: Rs. 900/-
SC / ST / Transgender Candidates: Rs. 700/- 
PWD(PH/VH) Candidates: Rs. 100/-
