About the University

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir initially introduced the Cluster University concept in the year 2016. This concept strives hard to provide quality education and contribute to the overall development of society.

The Cluster University of Srinagar is a collegiate university, meaning that it is made up of self-governing and independent colleges, each with its property and income.

The constituent colleges bring together academics and students from a broad range of disciplines. Its main functions are divided between the academic departments of the University and the affiliated colleges.

• Bemina and the Institute of Advanced Studies, MA Road, Srinagar

will together constitute the Cluster University of Srinagar. The five campuses of the University are spread across 108 acres. The University will be provided with funding by the Central government under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan of 2013.

The Cluster University of Srinagar started functioning from the academic year 2017 with the appointment of the founding Vice-chancellor and the Registrar. The University has been recognized by the University Grants Commission under the UGC Act 1956 and has been authorized to award degrees for Graduation, Post-graduation, and Research programs.

Aims and Objectives of the University

• Ensure adequate availability of quality faculty in educational institutions and ensure capacity building at all levels of employment.
• Create an enabling atmosphere for research in the higher education system.
• To combine traditional educational systems with modern opportunities to bring out the best in students.
• To provide adequate infrastructure to the students and teachers. 
• To provide all learners with capabilities, they require to become economically productive and independent, develop sustainable livelihoods, contribute to peaceful and democratic societies, and enhance individual well-being.
• Optimum Utilization of resources.
• Facilitate collaborations and partnerships with industry, academia and other stakeholders
• Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.
• To provide a platform for innovation, communication, collaboration, and extensive research.

Courses offered by the University

The University offers a plethora of diploma courses and courses at the under-graduate and post-graduate levels in the fields of social sciences, liberal arts, humanities, engineering, science, teacher education, languages, entrepreneurship development, management, and other job-intensive courses.

The students have the option of choosing their specialized subject at an early stage and can focus entirely on that subject alone. The University has conducted several seminars and workshops to guide the students and provide them with counseling required for various courses. Students are expected to go through individual course criteria and requirements before enrolling for the respective courses.

The Cluster University itself will award the degrees for various courses. Students belonging to the five constituent colleges studying in the second and third year will, however, remain affiliated with the University of Kashmir and will be awarded degrees by the same.
