Serampore college has been established in the year 1818, by the Serampore Trio known as William Carey, Joshua Marshman, William Ward in Serampore Town, in Hooghly District, West Bengal. Serampore College is the second oldest college in India. The two entities of the Serampore college is the theological faculty and the arts, science, and commerce faculty. The affiliations of the college include the Senate of Serampore College and the University of Calcutta. The arts, science, and commerce degrees are awarded to the students of the college by the University of Calcutta, and the theology is by the Senate of Semaphore College.

The present principal of the Serampore College is Dr. Vansanglura. Serampore College is one of the best and the oldest colleges under Calcutta University, with a total student count of 2,277. It includes a total staff count of 79(teaching faculty) and 30(non-teaching).
