The State University of New York Buffalo is commonly called the SUNY Buffalo or the University at Buffalo. It has campuses in Buffalo, New York, United States, and Amherst. It is one of the No.1 public Universities in New York. The University of Buffalo was founded in 1846. It is one of the largest state universities in New York. This university is extended across 150 countries in the world.

The university has 3 significant campuses, namely the North Campus, South Campus, and the Downtown campus. Oton, the three North campuses, is the largest campus which is located at Amherst.

  • For Admissions, for graduates, each school or department has its admission requirement with the addition of general requirements of U.B.’s. The graduate program offers 80 total programs.

SUNY Admission Criteria

Admission requirements vary for different programs. Here are the general graduate admission requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or college. Such degrees should be mostly of 4 years or more years. University of New York Buffalo generally accepts 3-year degrees but not all.
  • Good test scores in GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc. All programs do not require test scores.
  • B grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher in bachelor’s degree courses.

Early Admission– This program enables you to begin college when you are in high school itself. Under this highly qualified program students, juniors of high school can apply. They can apply at Buffalo for a part-time or full-time study.

Educational Opportunity Program-This program helps students to reach their personal and full academic potential with the help of tutoring, mentoring, advertisement, etc.

Honors Program– This program accepts 150 new students every year. Many students are also awarded the Murree. A. Howard Scholarship. 40 scholarships are offered every year to various students.

International Admission for graduates

There are more than 300 graduate degree programs offered by the State University of New York-Buffalo. It is the largest institution in the State University of New York (SUNY) system. More than 200 international students transition each year.

The steps for Admission are the same as the M.A. and Ph.D. application steps. But with it, there are more additional steps and procedures which students should follow for applying to graduate programs-

  • If the student is not a U.S. citizen, then he/she should submit the Online International Student Graduate Financial Form with a bank statement that is certified. All the necessary forms should be submitted before the application is reviewed for Admission.
  • If English is not your native language, then a TOEFL or PTE academic score will be required to submit. The test scores should not be more than 2 years old. The scores required for Admission are 100 or higher. Scores lower than this will not be given Admission.
  • A PTE score of a minimum of 55 is required. Scores lower than 50 are not given Admission.
  • Students who want to enroll in the graduate program should also consult the Office of International Admissions.
