ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH

The University of Portsmouth is a public institution located in Portsmouth city. The Park building, which dates back to 1908, was founded as a community college & public library. The Further & Higher Ed Act granted the university status around 1992. The University was once known as the Portsmouth Polytech. The University is now ranked among the top 100 higher ed institutions globally.

The institution has many highly regarded study programs placed in top spots by various organizations. Aside from that, the University's research effort was also recognized as exceptional in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH CAMPUS

The University of Portsmouth is divided into two parts: the University Quarter, centred on the Guildhall area of Portsmouth, & the Langstone Campus. University Quarter's the bigger of the 2 campuses, consisting of university buildings scattered across the city center. Teaching facilities & residential choices are available to students here.

Langstone campus is smaller than the Quarter campus and is located near Milton on Portsea Island's eastern side. The University's sporting grounds are located on this campus, overlooking Langstone Harbour. The Uni's School of Languages & Area Studies was earlier located on Langstone Campus. However, it has now relocated to Park Building in the Quarter campus.

UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS

Many scholarships are available to international and EU students at the University of Portsmouth. Students' eligibility for such scholarships varies based on the course they are taking, where they're from, and how well they've done in school thus far. In addition to the University of Portsmouth, many additional external organizations provide scholarships & awards to overseas students.

  • VC's Global Development Scholarship – Eligible students can obtain the VC's Global Scholarship beginning in Oct 2021. The scholarship will provide you with a £1,600 cost discount for your 1st year of education. Students who've already taken other programs at UOP are eligible for the alumni discount instead of the scholarship. This award is only available to candidates who've been classified as international students for fee purposes. The nationality of the applicant determines eligibility.
  • Chancellor's Global Academic ScholarshipThis scholarship would be in the form of a 5,000 Euros tuition discount for your 1st year. This scholarship's awarded based on merit, and students must apply & acknowledge the offer before 01/12/2021 (for Feb 2022 entry). On students' CAS, the decreased cost will be mentioned. Once students have an offer letter to study at the UOP & have paid their deposit, they will get this document.
  • SEGG Scholarship – With UOP Master's Scholarship, if you're a self-funded foreign student with a 1st/upper 2nd from a Bachelor's & accept the offer into a Master's course by 04/07/2022, you might save 50% on your tuition price.
  • SQA Adv. Diploma Scholarship The SQA offers an Advance Diploma Scholarship of £2,000 - £3,000. If a students' application is approved, we will compare the application & grades to those of other applicants to determine the award amount you will receive. At the beginning of the study, the scholarship value will be deducted automatically from the tuition price.

Admission Procedure

HOW TO APPLY TO THE UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH?

Students must apply online using the University's site as foreign students. Students can apply online immediately from their selected degree's homepage. A few chosen programs, however, have a somewhat distinct application process.

The institution accepts students throughout the year, but most programs are only available for the fall intake. Undergraduate applicants must send their applications & supporting documentation by the UCAS key date. There's no set application date for most PG programs commencing in September. On the other hand, international candidates are advised to send the applications as quickly as possible, before the courses full up, so they have ample time to apply for a visa.

  • Set up an account with your email id & a secure password on the application site.
  • Fill in your personal information, such as your name, surname, date of birth, gender, and so on.
  • Fill out the rest of the form, including contact information, experience, qualifications, a personal statement, references, and submission.
  • After you've finished filling out the form, go through it again & submit it.
  • The institution follows the UCAS timeframes when it comes to releasing UG decisions. However, processing all PG applications & making a decision requires at least ten days.

UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH ELIGIBILITY

For overseas students, the University of Portsmouth has country-specific eligibility criteria. Although they may vary by subject, practically all Indian students enrolling in this University must meet certain basic qualifying requirements.

Eligibility for UG

Before students start the course, they'll need to know what certifications & marks they'll need on each topic. The UOP offers 196 UG courses distributed into different study areas.

  • Students must have passed 12th Grade with a 75% or higher average on state board exams or 70% on ISC/CBSE exams.
  • For entrance, a minimum mark of 30-31 on the Int. Baccalaureate is necessary.
  • IELTS – 6.0 (no section less than 5.0)
  • TOEFL iBT – 79 (Reading 18+, writing 17, listening 17, speaking 20)
  • PTE – 54 (min. 51 in each section)
  • DET – 120

Eligibility for PG 

 The University of Portsmouth offers 152 PG courses distributed into different study areas. Before students start the course, they'll need to know what certifications & marks they'll need on each topic.

  • A 2nd class Hons./bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study or comparable certification or professional experience is necessary.
  • Depending on the course, you may need work experience.
  • IELTS score 6.0 or above, with no section score below 5.5.
  • TOEFL iBT – 91 (Reading 20+, writing 20, listening 19, speaking 21)
  • PTE – 61 (min. 54 in each section)
  • DET – 120

Eligibility for PhD

 The University of Portsmouth offers 50 PG research (PhD) courses distributed into different study areas. Before students start the course, they'll need to know what certifications & marks they'll need on each topic.

  • A bachelor's degree from a globally recognized institution or a master's in a relevant field.
  • If English isn't your native language, you'll require an IELTS score of 6.5 with no part score less than 6.0.
  • You may also require to present sample work or portfolio.
