SEB Exam (State Examination Board) 2020 – Apply, Result, Score

State examination board orSEB Exam is an educational board that conducts various scholarships and competitive exams in schools and colleges located in the state of Gujarat. These exams are government-funded and approved by the central government bodies.

PSE and SSE examinations

Primary education scholarship ( PSE ) and Secondary education scholarship ( SSE ) exams are conducted every year to provide scholarships to meritorious students for their primary and secondary education, respectively. 

PSE and SSE Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must be appearing in the 6th class to take the PSE exam, while for SSE, one must be in class 9th.

PSE and SSE Application Fees

A minimal fee of INR 40 is charged for the PSE exam and INR 50 for the SSE exam.

Starting date for submission of the online application was 8th August 2019, consecutively, the last date of submission was 26th August 2019.

SEB Exam

The Gujarat Education Department established the State Examination Board (SEB) in 1966. It conducts numerous exams such as primary, secondary, and higher secondary level scholarship examinations.

Some SEB exams are:

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE)

NTSE examination is conducted every year at two levels: Stage-I (State Level) & Stage-ll (National Level). Selection for Stage-I is done by States/UTs. Students that qualify Stage-I are eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.

  1. MAT (Mental Ability Test)
    1. Questions: 100
    2. Marks: 100
    3. Time: 120 Minutes
  2. SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
    1. Questions: 100
    2. Marks: 100
    3. Time: 120 Minutes
    4. Consists of 3 parts: Science – 40 marks, Maths – 20 marks, Social Studies – 40 marks

National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS)

  1. MAT (Mental Ability Test)
    • Questions: 90
    • Marks: 90
    • Time: 90 Minutes
    • Has questions testing verbal and non-verbal abilities like reasoning and critical thinking.
  2. SAT (Scholastic Ability Test)
    • Questions: 90
    • Marks: 90
    • Time: 90 Minutes
    • Has questions from the science, social studies, and mathematics syllabus as taught in standards 7 and 8.

SEB Exam Eligibility

Primary Scholarship Examination (PSE)

The student is in Standard 6 in a non-granted primary school or local body school (district panchayat/municipality/municipality school) 

The student has acquired at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in Standard 5 

Secondary Education Scholarship Examination (SSE)

The student is in Standard 9 in a government-run secondary school, local body school, granted- secondary school or non-granted secondary school 

The student has acquired at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in Standard 8

National talent search examination (NTSE)

The student is in Standard 10 in a recognized school are eligible to appear for the Stage -I examination 

National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS)

The student is in Standard 8 in a state government or government-aided school. The student has acquired at least 50% marks (SC/ST category) or 55% (other categories) in Standard 7. The parents’ annual income does not exceed Rs. 1,50,000 p.a.

  2. Click on ‘Apply Online’ on the Menu bar
  3. Click on the specific exam ‘Notification’ link on the Notice Board
  4. Click on ‘Apply Now’ beside ‘Primary Scholarship Exam’ or ‘Secondary Scholarship Exam’ or ‘National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme’ or ‘National Talent Search Examination
  5. Read the instructions given and proceed to click on ‘Continue’ to open the application form
  6. Fill the ‘Personal Information Of The Candidate’, ‘School Address Information’ and ‘Other Information’ section
  7. Accept the declaration
  8. Click on ‘Save

NTSE Examination

National talent search examination(NTSE) is a national level scholarship examination which is conducted by SEB in Gujarat. It is a two-level examination.

NTSE Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must be class 10th appearing.

NTSE Application Fees

There are no fees applied for this examination.

NTSE Exam Dates

Candidates could fill their application form online for stage 1 between 13th August 2019 and 14th September 2019.

Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Examination

SEB conducts Rashtriya Indian Military college entrance (RIMCE) exam every year; it a qualifying exam for admission to the RIMC Dehradun.

RIMCE Eligibility Criteria

The exam is taken for admission in class 8th, so the candidate either has completed class 7th or appearing for it from a recognized institution.

RIMCE Application Fees

For general candidates, it is INR 600, and for SC/ST, it is said to be INR 550.

RIMCE Exam Dates

The last date for submission of applications by the state government was 30th September 2019.

Exam date: Written exams were conducted on 1st December 2019 and 2nd December 2019. And for the qualifying candidate’s interview will be held on 7th April 2020.

The result of the written examination is expected to be released in February 2020; however, the final result after completion of the interview will be out in April 2020.

National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme Examination

Gujarat SEB conducts the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme Examination (NMMS) to provide a scholarship of INR 1000 per month to the candidates who will manage to qualify for this examination.

NMMS Eligibility criteria

The eligibility of a candidate is checked based on their family income. Income must be less than 1.5 lakhs per annum.

NMMS Application fees

INR 70 for general students and INR 50 for others.

NMMS Exam Dates

Online application started on 10th September 2019, and the last date for applying was 16th October 2019. The last date for the submission of fees was 17th October 2019.

What is SEB exam?

What is the passing marks for NTSE?

Ans. Their are 2 stages in NTSE. In stage-I, the qualifying marks are 40% and 32% for the reserved category. Their are total of 200 questions, 1 mark each so the qualifying marks come out to be 64 for reserved category and 80 for non-reserved category.

How much is NTSE Scholarship?

Ans. Under NTSE Scholarship Rs. 2000 per month is awarded to Undergraduate and Postgraduate. The scholarship amount is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms for Ph.

What is the pass mark of NMMS exam?

Ans. For passing the NMMS exam the student has to pass both MAT and SAT exams with at least 40% marks in each. For the reserved category its 32%. For eligibility, parent’s income should not be more than 1.5 Lakh per annum from all sources.
