GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

Gate is an examination that stands for “Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering” that tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduates subjects in Engineering and Science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies at Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Mumbai (Bombay) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

GATE 2020 Registration

The registration of GATE 2020 has been started, and the date has been released. There are some eligibility criteria that every candidate should pass then only they can register for GATE Examination.

There are some steps for registration of GATE 2020:

Step 1: Registration

  • To fill the online application, the candidate should register themselves
  • New candidates can register themselves by registering their full names and other details that are available in the form.
  • If the candidate is from abroad, then all the communication will be done through the mail.
  • For national candidates, communication will be done from mobile numbers and email IDs.

Step 2: Filling of GATE 2020 Application form:

  • Candidates first need to enter their enrollment number and password
  • Next step is to fill up the personal details to verify the email address and mobile number
  • Candidates need to add correspondence address for future correspondence
  • Candidates need to fill the details of their qualifying degree i.e., Name and discipline of the Qualifying degree, Name of college/ university, Passing year, etc.

Step 3: Uploading Documents:

The following documents must be uploaded by the candidates:

  • Passport size photograph in the white background
  • Signature in running handwriting: 2 kb-150 kb
  • Eligibility Certificate 
  • Category Certificate wherever applicable
  • PwD Certificate wherever applicable

Step 4: GATE 2020 Application form fee payment:

The application fee for GATE varies for national as well as international students.

The payment of the application form can be made only via net banking facility i.e., credit or debit card.

GATE 2020 Login

Gate Online Application Processing Systems 2020, which in short is known as GOAPS, has been provided by IIT Delhi for the candidates of GATE appsgate.iit.ac.in. At this site, candidates can easily have access to their GATE account and they can also apply, edit details, download admit cards, check the result of GATE 2020, etc.

This account of GOAPS is log in at the time of registration.

Below are the steps to login:

  • The candidate first needs to click on the link that is mentioned above.
  • After clicking on the link window will open a new tab.
  • Candidates need to enter their enrollment number and password and also the captcha as asked.
  • The candidate needs to hit the submit button.
  • And then they will be successfully logged into the GOAPS portal.

GATE 2020 Candidate Login

GATE 2020 Candidate Login is like an account that is made to keep all the information of a candidate safe and secure. Candidates can easily log in to their GOAPS Account by entering their enrollment number, password, and captcha as asked.

In case, any Candidate forgets their enrollment number or password then it can be reset again by clicking on the forget enrollment number or password button.

GATE 2020 Application

The GATE 2020 Application form has been released on 1st September 2019. Candidates can fill the application form through the online portal only. Before then the candidates need to register themselves.

The last date to submit the application form was 28th September. The form will be submitted online only and there is no need to submit a hard copy.

  • Applicants need to visit the official website i.e. gate.iitd.ac.in 
  • The next step is to click on ‘register here’s and then they need to fill the details
  • Applicants need to sign in with their user Id and password.
  • The application form will appear.
  • Upload all the required documents that have been asked
  • The last step is to pay the application fees.

GATE 2020 Application Fees

There are different application fee for different categories and it is mentioned below:

  • For the general category candidates, the fee is RS.1500 to fill GATE 2020 Application Fees.
  • Reserved Category Candidates application fees are RS. 750

Fees post 24th September (i.e., with late fees of Rs. 500 )

  • Application fees for general category candidates are Rs. 2000
  • Application fees for reserved Category Candidates are Rs. 1250

GATE 2020 Photo and Signature Size

The photo and signature should be scanned and uploaded. Both photos and signature should be in JPEG Form. The dimension of the Photo should be “3.5 cm X 4.5 cm,” and the dimension of the signature should be “2 cm X 7 cm.”

  • The size of the photo should be two kb-200 kb
  • and the size of the signature should be 2 kb – 150 kb.

GATE 2020 Syllabus

As we all know, the GATE Examination is considered one of the toughest exams. Therefore, it requires tough preparation. Also, the Syllabus of the GATE Examination is very vast and very tough.

IIT Delhi has released the syllabus of GATE 2020 on the official website. The authorities made a new addition to GATE 2020 in the form of Biomedical Engineering apart from the 24 existing papers.

A different branch of engineering has different syllabus but general aptitude is common in every paper.

GATE 2020 Exam date

The GATE 2020 Exam date has been released by the IIT Delhi on their official website. The exam is being conducted with the support, cooperation, and help of seven IIT’s and the Indian Institute of Science.

The finalized exam date was February 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2020.

GATE 2020 Last Date

As released by IIT Delhi the last date for candidates to register themselves for GATE Examination is 28th September with the normal application fee.

After this date, Candidates are not able to register themselves at any cost.

GATE 2020 Admit Card

GATE 2020 Admit card is a hall pass and identity proof of the Candidate appearing for the GATE Exam.

The date for downloading the admit card was on 3rd January 2020. Candidates can easily download their admit cards by visiting the official website of the GATE 2020 and by entering their enrollment number and password. Admit card should be in colored printout along with 1 original photo ID proof.

  • Admit card contains details of the candidates
  • It contains the date and day of examination
  • It also contains other details such as Center address, exam time, instructions, etc.

GATE 2020 Eligibility

Candidates applying for GATE 2020 must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria of the GATE Examination; otherwise, they won’t be able to fill the application form.

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in BE/BTech, BSc, or BArch with a minimum of 60-70% of the marks.
  • Candidates should possess a master’s degree ME/ MTech, MA, MSc, MCA with a minimum of 60-70% of marks from any recognized institution or University.
  • Candidates can also apply for GATE Examination in the final year of their degree program.

GATE 2020 Exam Pattern

GATE 2020 Exam Pattern consists of all the important information such as a total number of questions, a total number of sections, types of questions asked, and the marking scheme of the exam. By the exam pattern, candidates will get an idea about the paper, and also they can prepare well as it helps in formulating the best strategy required for the exam.

The mode of examination is online. The duration of the GATE Examination is 3 hrs and the maximum marks are 100. The exam paper has a mix of both multiple-choice questions and numerical answer type questions
