The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test, commonly known as MH CET, is a state-level entrance test and it’s is mandatory for applicants who wish to get admission in institutions within Maharashtra for B.E/B. Tech, B.Pharmacy, and Agriculture courses. Once candidates qualify, they are eligible for admission in government and private institutions in the state. MH CET is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra.

MHT CETApplication Form

The application process for the MH CET includes the following steps:

Step 1: Registration

  1. Visit the official website of MH CET (http://cetcell.mahacet.org/)
  2. Search for a registration link
  3. Click on ‘New User’ and enter details
  4. A User ID and Password will be sent on the e-mail ID or contact number used for registration.

Step 2: Online Application Form

  1. Fill the MH CET application form by providing details regarding personal information, contacts, and academics.
  2. Select the Medium/Language of the question paper.
  3. Submit the application form after filling it.

Step 3: Upload Documents 

  1. Upload your passport size photograph
  2. Upload a scanned copy of your signature
  3. Upload ID proof

Step 4: Payment

  1. The application fee can be paid online and offline
  2. The application fee for MH CET 2020 is:
    • General category – Rs. 800 
    • Reserved categories – Rs. 600

MHT CET Eligibility

Here are the eligibility criteria for MHT CET:

  1. Candidate should be a citizen of Indian.
  2. No age limit.
  3. Candidate must have passed HSC or equivalent examination (candidates appearing for their Class 12 or equivalent are also eligible to apply)
  4. Candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in addition to Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical subjects/Vocational subjects.
  5. Candidates interested in appearing for MH CET need to claim one type of Maharashtra State Candidature:

Type A

  • Candidates passing SSC and also HSC or Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor of Science Examination from a recognized institution in Maharashtra State.
  • A candidate who is either Domicile of Maharashtra and/ or is born in Maharashtra.

Type B

  • Candidate who does not fall in Type-A above, but who or whose Father or Mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra and possess Domicile Certificate.

Type C

  • Candidate who does not fall in either Type-A or Type-B but whose Father or Mother is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking and who has been posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submission of Application Form for CAP.

Type D

  • Candidate who does not fall in any of the above Type-A, Type B, and Type-C but whose Father or Mother is an employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.

Type E

  • Candidates passing SSC and/or HSC Examination from a recognized institution located in a disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area and whose Mother tongue is Marathi.

MHT CET Exam Details

  1. MH CET will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with four options.
  2. Questions will primarily be application-based.
  3. There will be no negative marking. 
  4. Class XI syllabus will account for 20% weightage, while the Class XII syllabus will be given 80% weightage.
  5. MH CET is conducted in two groups i.e., PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
  6. Mode of Examination – Online
  7. Exam Duration – 2.5 hours
  8. No. of Questions – 50 per subject

MHT CET Organizational Structure

The State Common Entrance Test Cell is headed by an officer working under the control of the ARA, not below the rank of the Joint Secretary, nominated as the Commissioner of State CET.

The Commissioner shall be assisted by the officers of the rank of Joint Director of the State Government, in the fields of the Medical, Technical, Agriculture, Higher Education, etc.

MH CET Technical Education Cell

The Technical Courses in India became significant with the establishment of the All India Council for Technical Education, and today the Council conducts a long list of Technical Courses.

MHT CET is a state-level entrance test conducted for admission in more than 300 institutes across Maharashtra. As per DTE Maharashtra, 85% of the seats in private unaided institutes in Maharashtra will be filled through MHT CET, while 15% seats will be filled/reserved for All India Quota based on MHT CET.

The Technical CET Cell regulates the admissions to the First and Direct Second Year of Full Time Professional UG Technical Courses (Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, Pharm D., Architecture, Hotel Management, and Catering Technology).

MH CET Medical Education Cell

MH CET Medical Education Cell is responsible for the wide range of academic courses in the medical field, like certificate courses, medical diploma courses, bachelor degree courses, master’s degree courses.

Yearly eligibility examination like NEET is a single entrance examination to various UG, MD/MS, and PG Diploma Courses. No other Entrance Examination, either at the state or institute level, in Maharashtra is valid for entry to UG/MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses.

Admission to all medical courses is made as per the merit of NEET through Combined Counseling/ Centralized admission process. The validity of all India rank based on the result of NEET only for the current admission session and cannot be carried forward for the next session of admission for UG/MD/MS/Diploma Courses.

MH CET Higher Education Cell

The Directorate of MH CET Higher Education is responsible for the Management of Non ‐ agricultural Universities and its Degree Colleges about higher education in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education, and Non ‐ AICTE in the State.

The directorate conducts CETs (online exam) and Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for the following Professional Courses as declared by the Department of Higher and Technical Education.

MH CET Agricultural Education Cell

MH CET ensures effective coordination and coordination among all four institutes in Maharashtra. The Agriculture Council monitors the responsibility of reviewing, evaluating, supervising, and directing the work of agricultural universities. General Chat Chat Lounge Agriculture Council is headquartered in Pune.

There are three main departments – education, research, extension education, to make the work of the Council more effective. Generally, after some time, the meetings of the Agricultural Council are reviewed by the University. The decisions are taken in terms of the policy as well as action for future work.

The Council considers the studies of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department. CET is mandatory for admissions in Government, Government Aided and unaided private, professional educational institutions.

MH CET Fine Art Education Cell

MH CET is the competent authority responsible for conducting Maharashtra Applied Arts and Crafts Common Entrance Test (MAH AAC CET) for admissions to Undergraduate Visual Art Courses (Fine Art and Applied Art) for the academic session each year in the Government, Govt. Aided and Unaided Institutes in the Maharashtra State.

Candidates passed/appearing at the qualifying examination, i.e., HSC/12th Standard examination or its equivalent examination, are eligible for appearing for MAH AAC CET. There is no age limit for admission and appearing to MAH AAC CET.

There is a list of well-known institutes which are approved under this Cell, like Sir J.J.School of Art(Mumbai), Government Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya (Nagpur), Government School of Art( Aurangabad).

MH CET AYUSH Education Cell

The ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) aims to boost the development of education and research in this ancient art of healing.

The Government Of Maharashtra established the Directorate of Ayurveda in the year 1957. The increase in lifestyle problems and grave diseases needs an alternative to western medicine. The Indian subcontinent is the birthplace of the most ancient and traditional healing methods, which has been helping curb and treat the health problems for ages.

The Admission to AYUSH UG courses is considered based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). MAFSU Animal & Fishery Sciences

Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) was established on December 03rd, 2000, with its headquarter at Nagpur.

The University has been formed out of the 4 Agriculture Universities in the state by transferring five Veterinary Colleges, one Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, and one Dairy Technology College.
