The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) conducts exam to fill in the vacancies of Commercial apprentice, Goods guard, Traffic Apprentice, Traffic Assistant, Assistant Station Master etc. all over India.

RRB Exam Category

  1. RRB Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) have 35,208 vacancies, will be held in 2020. The dates are not announced yet.
  2. RRC/RRB Group D Level – 1 have 1,03,769 vacancies, will be held in 2020. The dates are not announced yet.
  3. Ministerial and Isolated Category Boards (MI) have 1665 vacancies, will be held in 2020. The dates are not announced yet.

RRB Exam Eligibility Criteria, Selection Process, and Posts Offered.

The RRB exam – NTPC

  1.  The undergraduate posts for which the minimum required qualification is the candidate must have passed class 12 in 10+2 pattern or its equivalent exam. The age of the candidate for this RRB exam should be between 18 to 30 years.
  2. The Posts vacant and offered after clearing all stages of this category of RRB exam are Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk.

  4. The postgraduate posts for which the minimum qualification is that the candidate must have a University Degree or its equivalent. The age of the candidate must be between 18 to 33 years.

The Posts vacant and offered after clearing all stages of this category of RRB exam are Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, Station Master.

  1. The Salary offered under this category ranges between Rs 25000 to Rs 35000.
  2. The allowances and perks for RRB NTPC posts are Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance (TA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Pension Allowance, and Medical Benefits.

  2. The exam will be a Computer Based Exam (CBT), which may be conducted in either a single-stage mode or multi-stage mode. Candidates who qualify for CBT will have to undergo PET (Physical Efficiency Test) with document and medical verification as the final stage of selection in this RRB exam.
  3. The CBT exam will test the candidates in areas like General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and Current Affairs.
  4. The posts vacant under this RRB exam are Assistant /9 Workshop, Bridge, C&W), Assistant Depot(Stores), Assistant Locoshed (Diesel and Electrical), Assistant operations, Assistant (Pointsman, Signal and Telecom), etc.

RRB Exam Ministerial and Isolated Categories

  1. The eligibility criteria for this RRB exam varies depending on the post. Certain posts just need the candidate to class 12 pass while some posts required graduation and/or master’s degrees and/or degrees in education.
  2. The name of the posts vacant and offered under this category of RRB exam are Junior Stenographer, Junior Translator, PGT Teacher, Head Cook, etc. 
  3. The selection stages in the RRB Ministerial and Isolated category exam are single Stage CBT followed by Stenography Skill Test, Performance Test/Teaching Skill Test, Translation Test (if required). Document Verification and Medical Examination is done at the end.
