Overview

Civil Engineering is a discipline focussing on designing, development, construction, and maintenance of the structure build either naturally or artificially. The structures may include sites like the railway tracks, dams, canals, sewage systems, airports, transports, infrastructure (private or public) etc.

In order to pursue civil engineering, the need is to have concrete understanding about physics and mechanics. Civil Engineering has been responsible for all the civilized generation around us, the reason why it has been named “civil”. It requires a lot of skills as well as hard work to be able to bring out in reality what is inscribed just on a piece of paper.

Civil Engineering thus is a broad spectrum that needs you to connect the imaginations in the mind on paper, and then actualize it in reality. It is one of the most reputed course that aspirants from around the world pursue.

1. Bachelor’s Program

A graduate in civil engineering focuses on mathematics, calculus and writing. The students have to learn wide range of engineering formulas in order to calculate stress, tension and assuming factor of safety in order to build structures that withstand the prescribed load. Students are also taught AutoCAD, Solidworks and various other computer aided designing courses in order understand the curriculum better.

2. Master’s Degree program

The postgraduate program in civil engineering is often interdisciplinary, requiring an extensive focus on practical training and also an extended internship to get an idea of the industrial setup. In order to avail an opportunity to pursue Master’s Degree, the aspirant needs to have a bachelor’s degree as well. Applicants are required to submit valid PTE scores, GRE scores, or IELTS/TOEFL scores along with an SOP and Letter of Recommendations (preferably 2) to have higher chances to make it through the selection process.
