Norway Universities Requirements for International Students

Norway University requirements for international students are divided in two categories. These categories are general and specialized requirements. General category has basic requirements which almost all universities ask for. Specialized requirements apply to some specific study programmes, which are frequently tied to specialized topics or fields of study from secondary school. Documents for a general application

The list of general application documents is rather simple. A student must present the following:

• An undergraduate/degree Bachelor’s or equivalent of at least 3 years of study (it must contain courses equivalent to at least 1/2 year of full-time study in a topic relevant to the programme you apply for) is required.
• A test of English proficiency

Documents for specific applications

The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) establishes minimum requirements that vary based on the home nation of each student. You should look at the GSU-list, a Norwegian database that contains country-specific data.

For example:

• Students from India must take an English test as well as two other certificates attesting to their academic education.
• Nigerian students do not need to take an English test, but they do need to have Senior School Certificates in six courses (obligatory English, Mathematics, and Science), as well as one extra certificate.
• A National Senior Certificate is all that is required of South African pupils.
• Students from the United States must have a high school diploma plus one year of university or college studies in academic disciplines, or three Advanced Placement Tests with a grade of at least 3.
• A General Certificate of Education with at least three A Levels or a Cambridge Pre-U Diploma (3 Principal Disciplines + Global Perspective and Research) or a mix of A Levels and Cambridge Pre-U Principal Subjects in three subjects is required for English students.
